El Nopal Restaurant & Juice Bar

“We then moved on to our tacos–we ordered the steak and cactus and the fish tacos–both came with two tacos each and very tender and fresh.”

“They don't have a liquor license which wouldn't make it great for a social brunch but for a quick one it was perfect.”

“Solid choice for Mexican food for the neighborhood.”

  1. In El Nopal, can we say yes pal, to the tacos I experienced.  They make a banging authentic steak taco. I love the medley of onions, parsley, radish and guacamole. Top them off with salsa Verde, the salsa roja on the other hand is for those living dangerously, after  a few drops my tongue is numb, too hot. The empanadas were puffy, and stuffed with queso blanco, Can you say delicioso!!! The look of the place is a Mexican cantina, the wait staff is friendly and approachable. Prices are median, but I've experienced similar tacos at other local spots for lower prices. I wonder if they price match. But non the less, great taste, friendly staff, will try their natural juices.

  2. Clean, quaint, bright. Warm decor with bright plants and bowls of fruit everywhere. They give you free salsa and chips when you dine in. It's a nice touch.

The juice: delicious! I tried green iguana upon one employee's suggestions (I always ask staff about their favorites wherever I go.

The food: I had the quesadilla and I can honestly say it was fantastic; chicken was tender and bountiful, tortilla golden brown. The presentation looked beautiful and fresh–not greasy.

    The staff: cheerful and attentive

My only, only, only suggestion is that they refrigerate the fruit. My juice was delicious but it came out room-temp inside of ice-cold.

  3. Came here after seeing my friend rave about this place on Facebook.  Maybe I set my expectations a little too high but some of the dishes were hit and miss to me…

the decor is cute there is a cute phrases and nice little decors around the cafe… Service was attentive the waiter refilled our water and was polite…I've had my fair share of mexican food from different parts of the world to have an idea of what I like and don't like… Their tacos are really good, I've never had grilled cactus in my life and this place serves it with their beef taco, I think my favorite had to be their fish taco, excellent amount of flavor and the fish was perfectly cooked…

Now on to the part I found mediocre, their free salsa with chips was a bit too watered down for me, their calimari was  nice and crisp but their sauce was not what I was expecting, I would have preferred marinara or even cocktail sauce as opposed to what they had.(would not recommend the calimari) and their maze looked so nicely presented but was no cafe Habana or anything close to what I've had in sunset.. This part really dissapointed me the most cause I thought I had found a cafe Habana dupe closer to home, I love love love Mexican corn and their maze did not meet my expectations (missing the mayo!)

I probably wouldn't come back but they do have solid taco choices for those who do decide to try this place out and their green sauce (wow) has a kick to it in a good way.. But my expectations fell short during my first experience here so I would try other spots instead next time I'm in the area
