Bollywood Tadka
“They have a low delivery minimum so I could order food just for myself which was great because I have planning a quiet night in.”
“The lunch buffet is an awesome bargain, $8.00 and it comes with a lot of naan (plain, garlic, or pepper).”
“Aside from that, the menu is very well rounded, with descriptions of all the dishes for those who are not familiar with Indian cuisine.”

Very average food, but we do order once in a while as it's the only Indian joint in the vicinity that delivers to our neighborhood. Have tried a lot of the dishes – various kebabs, samosa, various daals, chicken/ mutton gravy dishes, Biryani, naans, gulab jamoons. Nothing really stands out. The one time we went in to try their lunch buffet on a weekend, I have to say I was disappointed. Service is friendly though, and the owner tries hard. But not there, atleast not yet.
Best place in east Brunswick to get Indian food. Their buffet is awesome, very quick and good service. Been there several times for dinner in a large group as well. Chicken tikka, biryani, goat, paneer are all delicious.
Always looking to try out some new local restaurants me and my sister decided it was a while since our last indian food experience, so I suggested we visit Bollywood Tadka.
Located in a non-descript strip mall Bollywood Tadka once stepping into the restaurant you're greeted by a nicely decorated restaurant with various Indian art and sculptures along the wall and very clean tables and booths.
When we first walked in one of the waiters assumed we would go the buffet route but I said I wanted to order off the menu, only to get a response of the buffet "has everything". In addition, the waiter motioned as if the buffet was the only food available at lunch. We wanted to order off the menu as, in my opinion, it would provide a better assessment of the food quality.
Nonetheless, I scanned the buffet and say a decent 10-12 trays of various dishes but nothing too notable. We started to walk out, but another waiter (who appeared to be friendlier and sharper) asked us why we were leaving. I stated we wanted to order off the menu and he said it would be no problem.
We seated ourselves again and ordered the following:
– Started with the Bhel Puri appetizer and it was an awesome starter. Quite a unique dish that really touched on every taste bud in terms of taste and texture.
The crisp puffed rice served with various spices and tamarind sauce yielded sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. This was like the Indian amplified savory version of Rice Krispies!
– I had the Lamb Saag that was solid. I noticed the color of the saag was a bit greener than most saags I've eaten. This translated to the flavor as well, with the saag being a bit more earthy and less rich; presumably from using more spinach or more mustard greens?
I know a majority of saag recipes use cream, so maybe Bollywood Tadka's version uses less or none at all?
Either way it was still tasty, and I was happy to see several sizable pieces of lamb in the saag.
Notwithstanding the quantity of lamb, the lamb was a bit lean, and actually had more characteristics of goat meat.
– Sister ordered the "From the Tandoor" combo and it was a large skillet of chicken seekh, tandoori chicken (white & dark meat), a yogurt marinated chicken (not sure what this is named), and tandoori shrimp served over a bed of onions.
Each of the proteins were very moist and flavorful with the tandoori chicken having a nice smokey grill flavor without overpowering the spices. Tandoori shrimp was excellent being cooked perfectly (shrimp can easily be overcooked) and again seasoning/flavor was on point.
– We also ordered the vegetable kulcha with paneer cheese. Baked into this naan-like bread were diced onions & scallion along with bits of paneer cheese that was quite a yummy combination. A bit lighter than expected too.
Overall a really tasty lunch and worth another visit.
As a suggestion, skip the buffet and go off the menu!
I finally went to Bollywood Tadka after hearing good things about it for quite some time. My boyfriend and I went to dinner on a Friday night around 6ish and it was already starting to get crowded- which for us was a good sign.
I ordered the tandoori chicken and my bf ordered the chicken tikka. Essentially, we ordered the same things, but my chicken was thighs and drumsticks and his was boneless pieces. My go-to for Indian is usually chicken tikka masala, but I wanted something lighter. We also ordered a side of garlic naan.
Our food came out very quickly. The lentils and sauce that we were served on the side was so delicious and flavorful. I also asked for some yogurt sauce.
Overall, very good food, inexpensive and quick service. This will probably be our new go to place to Indian food.
I found this little gem recently. I'm so excited, because now I don't have to go far to great food. The service is great and the food is top notch. I recommend this place to all locals.
If you're in East Brunswick and you've got a craving for Indian food, then you've gotta come to Bollywood Tadka. Seriously. For the price you pay and the food you get, it's absolutely worth it.
I can't vouch for their take-out or ordering as I only went for their buffet, but gosh, that may be the most worth it. Coming in around noon on a Saturday afternoon, it was almost completely empty – we may have been the first few people to get to the buffet. I think its about $15, but definitely under $20 and absolutely worth it.
They have a good variety – even for those of us who can't stand the heat. Note the tandoori chicken was absolutely blazing in my mouth, but it tasted so good! My only disappointment was that they didn't have puffed rice, but they gave us a good amount of naan and the assortment of sauces was great. I wouldn't really recommend for vegetarians, as most of the dishes contained meat.
As for the setting, it's pretty dark, but there's a lot of space. It's also pretty well decorated, haha.
I came here on a Saturday for their lunch buffet.
They have a large variety of dishes include vegetarian dishes, but their vegetarian dish were all so spicy!
My favorite was definitely their chicken tikka masala. I would've liked if they served saag paneer. They serve their naan fresh and hot and straight to your table which is a big plus. Another highlight was their rice pudding and raita.
Even though I didn't enjoy every dish, the price is very reasonable and I'd come back again.
I took a friend there for lunch didn't realize they had a buffet in saturdays. Awesome. My friend and I loved the food. Nice selection not just chicken which was really nice change for buffet. From goat to lamb to vegetarian dishes really nice variety. Even the desserts were delicious. Nothing was "reheated" old all freshly made. Cannot wait to go back and have it again. Nice crowd also got busier as it got later which means food doesn't sit and moves. Waiter was attentive never had empty water glasses. So now I have 2 places to go for delicious Indian cuisine. Darn now I'm craving it again. Well next time. .
