This review is strictly for their pandabono. I've been lucky each time that I've gone and caught them right out of the oven! Toasty but soft, moist, chewy cheesy bread. SOOO DELICIOUS. I may be a little bias since I've never had pandebono from anywhere else but whatever. My ex-boyfriend introduced them to me awhile ago and I was HOOKED. During Hurricane Sandy, we pretty much lived off of these..along with orange juice, pepperidge farm cookies and string cheese hahaha. We bought about 20 of them every other day for that whole week! Yummm.
Well anyways, we aren't together anymore so I am pretty much never in Queens, womp. Let me yelp a Columbian bakery by me..hm..
Maybe I'm a bad person to judge this place since I'm coming from Miami, the land of Colombian goodness in America. This one kinda fell short on many fronts – the chicken was kinda greasy and overspiced, the sides were bland, and the counter service wasn't great. The only saving grace this place has is the restaurant itself – it's convenient location and it's modern-enough decor that stands out in the area that is full of shabby hole-in-the-walls.
Want Colombian food? Go somewhere else. Or just take the LGA bus from here and fly to Miami.
The beans were plain and the chicken was on the dry side, but I liked the beef soup with cilantro. I wanted to try out a simple baseline dish but maybe I should have gone for one of the stews.
