Don't confused by the name, this is a full-fledged and rather ambitious restaurant. They will sell their hummus to go, but only as part of a take out order.
The space on Graham Avenue is quite narrow, but the primarily white decor and open kitchen make it seem as spacious as possible. Even better is the back yard, which when it was open this summer and fall was decorated with white lights and tables that evoked a nice evening on the beach far more than you might think is possible in East Williamsburg.
The food is centered around Israeli favorites. There are several kinds of hummus, including ones with meat and vegetables. There's a chunky take on shakshuka and plates of pickles. Everything is filling without feeling greasy or heavy.
When we visited there was no liquor license but complimentary limoncello shots came at the end of the meal as a reward for being there during the open few weeks.
There was some carping from my party about the price point. I'm not among them. While certainly this is more expensive than the crap that is being sold at supermarkets and natural food stores, it is also freshly made and quite tasty. And there are options for full meals below $20, so it still seems like a reasonable value.
I adore hummus. Not the Sabra crap you buy at the grocery store, but real, creamy, savory hummus. Sadly it can be hard to find in the States.
Hummus Market definitely gives me what I need. They're an Israeli run establishment that truly gets it right. Their hummus is exquisite. And the pita they serve is pillowy and delicious.
The best way to experience what Hummus Market has to offer is to go with a small group of friends and order a bunch of different salads. Hands and arms should get tangled as people dip bread from one bowl to another and the conversation should flow constantly.
I adore their roasted cauliflower. And the labane is to die for.
I will admit the price point is a tad bit high for hummus but it's Williamsburg so it's understandable.
Check this place out!
I was very excited to go to Hummus Market and it meet completely my expectation of a 5/5 stars restaurant.
My friend was in town and we ordered 3 Maket Mix: Roasted Cauliflower, Roasted Peppers and beets then we also had soup and Hummus Shallots. We finish with some tea.
The waitress Jennifer (that's what i read on my receipt) was very nice and her recommendation was PERFECT!
the price are not to expensive as the neighborhood is getting gentrify.
the market mix were $16.00, the hummus $13.00, Small cup of soup were $5$ each and tea $3.00.
I will definitely come back very often as it is one block away from my apartment!
Will definitely recommend it to my roommates!
Oh pure deliciousness with a side of get in my belly.
I came here on my own in the middle of the day. Exhausted from running around and hoping to grab a bite to eat to refuel, I happened upon Hummus Market.
The kind waitress let me know there was a lunch special so I got the tahini hummus with a side of Israeli salad for ~$12. It was a massive bowl with warm pita. I couldn't get over how fresh everything was. There was so much flavor and goodness that I could barely finish.
I'm definitely headed back to try more dishes!
Had the stuffed pita with egg and eggplant. REALLY delicious. The tiny side of carrot and cauliflower were absolutely delicious too.
Will definitely be coming back here.
