  1. Recently started a new job, and they sent me over to Lenox Hill Hospital for a day of orientation. When lunchtime rolled around, I walked down the street and peeked into Dos Toros. Can't go wrong with Mexican takeout, right? Despite the long line, it went very quick due to the straightforward menu and assembly line counter. One carnitas bowl later, I was fully convinced that it was better than Chipotle! Why? The guacamole and meat are superior in taste. Portions are slightly smaller, but more satisfying.

  2. Tip: Stick with the bowl/salad over the tacos/ burritos

This place is basically a scaled down chipotle.  This location is rather tight, so not the best for dining in, but good for grabbing a quick lunch to go.  I like the carnitas bowl with the chipotle sauce and the chicken bowl with the verde.  The staff is usually pretty nice and the food seems fresh.  A little overpriced, but I'd recommend it if you're looking to quickly grab a quick lunch in the area.

  3. Compared to Chipotle, the price point is similar but the portion size is smaller. Here's a breakdown of the comparison:

    PROS:
    – Lighter seasoning: the steak is less salty, the chicken is not spicy – the natural flavor of the meat comes through better. I avoid the steak at Chipotle because it leaves me loaded with sodium.

    CONS:
    – Small portion size: it's satisfying but not too filling, whereas I always have leftover for the next meal from Chipotle.
    – No corns. 🙁 The roasted sweet corns at Chipotle are definitely missed!

  4. Got take-out lunch from here

    Pros:
    – Conveniently located on lex and near the 77th train station – I'm willing to trek far for food so this is just an added bonus
    – Small but at least 10+ seating spots
    – The selection is few but I mainly come here for the quesadilla
    – Carne Asada Quesadilla – it's shaped like a flat burrito (I love it!) so you can easily use a knife and fork to cut it (wrapped in two layers of foil so you won't be spilling anything); they melt cheese onto the wrap before adding anything onto it; the portion size is filling; beef is well-done, not burnt
    – The guac here is only $.92 and it tastes super fresh!

    Cons:
    – No bathroom
    – I can tell why people say the service here isn't the greatest – the people who wraps your taco/burrito/quesadilla aren't the nicest but the cashier is really friendly!

  5. Just like chipotle, this place is awesome quick Mexican food.

    Bright side: they have beer!

Not so good side: their tortilla wraps are extremely  oily.

  6. So this is another Chipotle knockoff. I've come here before with groups to get guac and chips but never tried their burritos. I decided to get a chicken burrito, with all the toppings. It was alright, more or less like chipotle but nothing too special. I do like how they also embrace the organic concept of all natural foods. This is not a bad spot to go to if you want quality food and are a chipotle fan.

  7. Whenever I'm in the area I have to stop by for a burrito. It's a small location, only a few places to sit, so it's more of a 'pay and go' kind of joint. I read on reviews it was like an upscale Chipotle and they were right. It's definitely good in my book!

  8. Buh, this place is the bees knees. It is a bit pricy, but the quality I have always been happy with. We have this catered where I work sometimes and it is easily one of my favorite free lunch day picks, hands down. I recommend their tacos or hell, anything! Good quality mexican, give it a go!
