  1. I was dying to try this restaurant for a couple of weeks. I saw such wonderful reviews but was skeptical if they were real reviews.

Finally, I said, I must come in here and try it for myself!

Lentil soup was good. It was a little on the liquidy side. If you like a really creamy lentil soup, this isn't the place for you. Presentation was gorgeous.

Bread was delicious, and the olive spread was a very lovely touch. If I could rate the olive spread and bread, it would be five stars.

I ordered the salmon wrap for lunch special. It was advertised outside for $9. I have to say, I was debating whether or not I should send it back. It was incredibly fishy. I eat salmon often, and I felt like the fish was not fresh. The vegetables on the side are served with mayonnaise (not really my thing).

Presentation was pretty for the soup. The wrap was served in aluminum foil. I was a little taken back because I had aluminum foil in my wrap.

I wouldn't say that I hated it here…but I won't be rushing back. Staff was nice but it seemed they didn't speak English correctly, so I felt like I didn't really receive any verbal hospitality. I may come back to try some other dishes on the menu. It's a tough choice.

  2. BYOW- Bring Your Own Wine

Loved this new little gem. I strongly recommend the zuchinni pancakes. Complimentary bread with two different Turkish dipping sauces- one spicy, and one olive based. Both delicious, but I prefer the spicy one. They have daily specials, and we had the lamb, which was cooked as requested and incredibly tender.

They have lots of flavored waters daily, and they now serve bottled beer as well.

Not expensive, and they will uncork your wine for you. Entrees average $15-30.

    Try this spot out please!

  3. I have only the best things to say about this Middle Eastern gem, fairly new to Park Slope. I've been there twice now, once the day after it opened and a couple weeks ago for the second time.

Getting the large mixed mezze platter, with its smorgasbord of delightful salads and spreads (bright purple and lightly creamy beet salad, hummus, two types of eggplant, bright orange carrot salad, richly spreadable dilled thick yogurt, and the most amazing sweetish rice- and currant-stuffed grape leaves) was a well-played-out decision on both occasions. It went super well with the warm, doughy bread brought out to us accompanied by red pepper and olive spreads.

The rolled borek was also a big hit, its flaky pastry encasing a hot blend of cheeses that really hit the spot, as was the schnitzel! It came out hot and perfectly crispy.

In terms of entrees, on my first visit we really enjoyed the chicken kebab and one of the shrimp dishes. I'm not an octopus eater, but my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed theirs. Last night we were too full for more than one entree, but the chicken adana definitely hit the spot and packed a protein punch in its spiced ground-chicken goodness.

The first time we were there, we really liked the baklava, but the other dessert, the caramelized milk pudding, was a little bit too funky for us. It seems to be made on a sheet pan and then cut into jiggly slices. Not really our thing, but it may be yours!

From the beginning to the end of the meal, the service was pleasant and attentive. We promptly received water glasses and a carafe upon getting seated, and the gentleman who seated us quickly brought out larger glasses for our BYOB cider and helped us open it. Throughout the meal, 90s jams played softly in the background, throwing us back in the best way possible.

Overall, from the quaint, mixed floral china to the gorgeous wall hangings to the impeccable, friendly service to the super delicious and relatively affordable food, Seed is a big win for the Slope. It has seating both in the front and back, and it seems like it would be an awesome choice for a semi-casual date, a birthday shared with friends, or numerous other occasions. We'll definitely be back!

  4. I applaud their efforts to win you over as a customer and impress with some nice touches. They offer complimentary bread with dip, and 2 chocolates when handed the check in a cute recycled box.

The food was good; can't say I would be overly impressed but the value is fair. Service was pleasant, somewhat sluggish at times but perhaps they are going for the dine and relax vibe.
