  1. Been going here for a few months, it's my go-to Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Literally, it's delicious. I usually order the Barbacoa quesadilla. It's amazing.

Great atmosphere, decent service, and above all AMAZING food.

  2. The atmosphere and decor here are fun and cute! The staff is friendly–they waved and shouted goodbye to me last night! This place is just a block from my apartment, so it's super convenient for me. The prices are pretty normal for a place like this. I've gotten tacos, burritos, and quesadillas here, and the tacos are definitely the best. The bathroom is spacious and clean. No complaints really! Not amazing, but solid. The wait for food can be a bit long when they get busy.

  3. The carnitas quesadilla here is one of the best things in NYC that I've ever put in my mouth. Cute, friendly atmosphere – but the food is REALLY outstanding.

  4. 1 star for the terrible, disrespectful and unapologetic interactions I had with two employees — Jimmy and Sasha.

Our company orders from this location very often and gives this place a lot of business.  However, today when we called to order, I was told that this place would not deliver to our location, even though we've had catered food many, many times.

After my first phone call with Jimmy, I was told that they did not deliver to our location.  I hung up the phone, confused, thinking maybe this was a different Oaxaca we order from.  After confirming with other staff members that this was indeed the location, I called again to just confirm that they would not deliver because the first time, Jimmy was confused and seemed uncertain about delivery boundaries.  Since we get delivery all the time, maybe there was confusion.

The second time I called, Jimmy became very rude and told me, he "was standing in front of the delivery man who said he won't deliver to you."  He became annoyed and frustrated and began to tell me that I should call the manager, Sasha at 6pm.  Unfortunately, calling Sasha at 6pm, when we wanted to order food at 12:30pm, wouldn't make sense.  He then told me "there are plenty of other lunch places to order from" and that I should do so.  When I asked for his name, he then told me that I shouldn't tell Sasha that "I told you we don't deliver" because he could be wrong. Regardless, his tone was extremely disrespectful.

When I called Sasha later that day, she said "sorry" but offered no explanation for why they wouldn't deliver.  I had to probe her and ask questions to find out that there may be a different "main office" that does catering, which doesn't make sense why she wouldn't know her own policies.  Even with this disrespectful interaction, there was no attempt to rectify the situation, offer me an opportunity to order again, or free anything for the nasty encounter.

I get that working at a taco place may not be the ideal job, but you can at least treat your customers with some common decency and respect.  But again, as I was reminded,  "there are plenty of other lunch places" and thanks Jimmy for the tip — I'll definitely take my business elsewhere.

  5. My boyfriend moved a block away, so we went here for dinner. We went here once last summer, and I loved it. Perhaps my memory is faulty, or I was drunk. Most likely the latter.

We went here for dinner. I had a carnitas salad, he had a barbacoa quesadilla and chorizo enchilada. There was only a tiny amount of meat on the salad. It was mostly lettuce, I was left with a bland pile of leaves and a few beans after I finished the minuscule meat portion (along with the appropriate ratio of lettuce)

The barbacoa quesadilla was better, I had a bite and it was fairly decent. The enchilada was relatively abysmal. They put all the sour cream on one half and all the guacamole on another, and the meat was bland and burnt.

Very disappointing. My drunken tastebuds cannot be trusted. So sad that this place is so close but so bad.

  6. I freaking LOVE this place. Their food is delicious. Their Oaxaca salad is HUGE. The burritos are awesome. The quesadillas are delicious. The delivery is always faster than my app says. It usually says "your food is on the way" after he's already delivered.  And the delivery guy is sweet as pie and always wears a smile!

  7. I only order fish as protein, so I opted for the fish ceviche taco. I could barely find the fish. The ingredients tasted day old, stale.

When Chilo's is so closeby, why would one come here?

  8. I'm lazy, but not so lazy that I would order delivery from a place two blocks away. So when I'm in the mood for tacos/enchiladas, I order pick-up from Oaxaca. It never disappoints–the food is well made and hits the spot. The restaurant is clean and looks like an expanded taco shack. The staff is on the younger side, but friendly and laid back. I normally get the chicken mole enchiladas–the chicken is never dry and the mole sauce makes everything better. They also have a great taco/rice & beans combo deal that I'm a fan of. They are cash only, but since I order online that's not an issue.
