  1. Ordered through seamless for pick up.  Got there a little earlier than their estimated pick up time and food was not ready so it was ok. I showed them my check in on yelp for their offer for free hummus so the girl at the counter said everything should be ready in 5 more minutes.  I was waiting by the door so the girl was nice enough to bring it to me.

When i got home and took everything out of the bag, my hummus was missing and the adana kebab plate was pretty small and i upgraded to their large.  They probably gave me their regular size even though i paid for a large.  The beef and lamb was tender and flavorful.  The zucchini pancakes was a disappointment.  Tasted a tiny bit sour and oily.  Lentil soup was good and flavorful.  The portion for the soup was bigger than i expected.

Overall, i am upset that they didn't give me my hummus and felt ripped off since i upgraded for a large adana kebab plate and didn't appear i got the large.

  2. I love Turkish food !!!!!

This is what this area needed a goodturkish place. Ugh.
I made a pickup order today at around 540pm left my home in Dyker heights once I got there in 15 mins my food was ready. They are extremely sweet and nice!

I got home and OMG. The food is up to par. I got small Adana kebab and it came with rice and I think it was couscous. Next time I'll get a large it was a little small and that came with a salad that was amazing ! With red vinegarette not just a random bland iceberg salad I got the hummus also which was as yummy! Paid 16.32 with a seltzer. The guys are super nice ! Please never change !

  3. Very happy with this Istanbul Kitchen being across the street from home! Not only is it super convenient, but the food is more than just average! My favorite Turkish food still has to be at East 13th St., but that's much on the further side of Brooklyn for me. This place does the justice and so far comes best out of any Turkish spot from Bayridge-Bensonhurst-Bay Pkwy or anywhere by that area range. The service has always been fast by fantastic nice workers here for pickup/delivery/or dine in. They also have a nice outdoor backyard seatings for the warmer weather!

The fried eggplant in red sauce is always a must for me at any Turkish restaurant, but when they ran out one day and we had to settle for babaganush which we normally don't like.. But this one was AMAZING! It was very smokey and full of flavor especially eaten with their complimentary fresh hot soft bread. Hummus was delish, and so was the mix grill platter which can feed about 3-4 people with appetizers!

Great big meal that's healthy, delicious and inexpensive !! Whatever restaurants that has been opening the past few years in this same spot never did so well… But I really do hope Turkish Kitchen stays because I look forward to always ordering from here !

  4. Nice place, quality food.  Sweet people.
The food took a little longer to pop out, but the Chef came out and apologized, and also provided us with complimentary Turkish Tea and dessert.  How nice.
If you're in the area of 86th Street in Bay Ridge, give them a try.
    Super friendly people.  Great food.

  5. $10 just goes a lot further when you're way south in Brooklyn. And not the "south" Brooklyn that people always talk about, but the real south Brooklyn.

Anyway, enough about semantics and neighborhood nomenclature. I was home for the holidays and was craving some heavy food, so I pulled up Seamless and Istanbul Kitchen had good ratings there and on Yelp.

Ordered a lamb gyro platter, a gyro sandwich, and an order of falafel balls. For two people, this was way too much food. The gyro platter comes with a giant pita on the side too, so you could basically make a big sandwich out of it to split. The platter was basically all the same ingredients as the sandwich, except a lot more of the salad and with added rice (flavored with peas, carrots and corn). All for $10! Can't beat that. The gyro meat itself was good too. Just the right amount of salt and oil. Made for great leftovers too.

I also liked the falafel balls and the hummus that accompanied them. You get 5 to an order, and they're pretty big. A bit dry, but that's what the hummus and red/whites are for.

Didn't do too much research before ordering (due to impending starvation), but looks like Istanbul Kitchen has a great backyard too. Love that a place like this exists in the neighborhood.
