  1. This place is a hidden gem that people should know about. I went here last night after having a huge craving for Mexican food after already tiring out my usual options of Taco Bell, chipotle and dos toros. (Let's face it, the Mexican food scene in NYC is weak.)

The 3 tacos for $13 was unusually small, so we decided to go for the veggie burrito. Similar to chipotle and dos toros we were able to ask them to fill the burrito with all of our favorite toppings the only difference here though is that the toppings were incredibly flavorful and delicious. We also asked him to make it extra spicy and it turned out to be one of the best burritos I've had in a long time, with the taste similar to that of SF Mexican food. The cook, Matthew, was friendly and made our food just how we wanted it.

The bar tender, Steven, also was doing a great job by chatting with the customers sitting at the bar and giving us really fresh tasting drinks. The mezcal mule was really good, and went great with the food. They also provided us with a side of pico de gallo and guacamole which was also fresh and amazing.

This is definitely my new favorite taco spot in New York City. I think they should do a better job at marketing this place, since not many people know about it, and it is sort of hidden behind a huge coffee shop. The exterior also isn't very inviting, and initially we couldn't even tell if it was open or not. They should also try and change up the ambiance inside a bit- and incorporate the bar side a bit more to make it enjoyable for those who want only drinks as well!

  2. Found a new taco spot that I can frequent! I love that this place has fish tacos and the elote is sooooo yummy! The tacos are $4.50 each or 3 for $13. All the sides are $4. What's cool about this place is that when sitting at the bar you can see every single move the chefs make so no shady business is going on. Also, when your starving and impatient thinking "where the F is my food?!" You can clearly see they are still cooking other people's food. Bartender was really friendly so service is a plus! The bathroom is shared with the Coffee Shop bc the place is that small. As a non-meat eater I would like to see shrimp and vegetarian options on the menu. At least a basic rice and bean taco like Dos Toros. Other than that, cool ambience, nice bartender, and def def scrumptious tacos w some amazing sauce!

  3. We found this place on a detour off of Union Square. The tacos are amazing and they have a great selection of Mexican food. Also you should definitely get the taco special 3 for $13. I don't know how long the special will last but when I was here they had a duck taco with mango salsa. AMAZING!
This is a new restaurant it's a little bit off the beaten path but you can find it on 16th St. under the blue cocktail sign.
A must try if you are in Union Square and looking to grab a bite.

  4. I love the rustic look of this taco spot, there's a cool wooden bar for some happy hour drinks and small tables for a little more intimacy among the constant bustling crowd of union square. Its a super good spot to grab something small to eat in the area. The tacos are quite tasty!

When you go to a hole in the wall spot like this, there are unmentioned expectations on service and their margaritas. The margaritas were disappointing with lack of acid and the whole dinner service was only covered by one waitress on a Friday night. She provided great service when she was available but when you have approximately 20 guests and one waitress, for the most part, she won't be available. It took her about 15 minutes between the time we were seated to get us menus, utensils, and drinks. She never even had the time to clean the table before we were seated. The whole dinner experience was probably lengthened by 45 minutes due to the fact that there was only one staff attending to everyone. This is no fault to the waitress herself.

It is also pretty gross when there's a bunch of flies flying outside right near the outside eating area. Not the most appetizing and appealing to the guest.

  5. So my friend works here and I stopped by before his shift to try out the food. This is a little discreet spot, behind the coffee shop in union square. I honestly would never have thought to stop in otherwise. They have a great selection of tacos- I had the veggie special of the day and the swordfish taco. I also got a side of rice and beans to go with that. The tacos were good but are a bit small- they're about the size of my palm (I have pretty small hands). The rice and beans were average, I've had better. It's a nice atmosphere and the drinks are probably what makes this place great, I would have to come back and see for myself.

  6. It's nice to have another affordable addition to Union Square. Tacos are pretty good and street taco size. The meats are all tender and flavored nicely. I wish there was more char on the steak one. The gucamole needed salt and just more oomph. It's a kind of a tight squeeze but if you are in the mood for Mexican, you will be satisfied.
