Naruto Ramen
“There is nothing better than vegetarian (green noodle) miso ramen on a winter night!”
“I had the miso ramen which was excellent and the gyoza were also very good.”
“I'd give 3.5 stars as far as ramen joints go, but since it's the holidays I decided tis the season to round up, rather than down.”

No frills ramen joint in the upper east side. their ramen noodles are on the thinner side and unfortunately not al dente like i like it
There's just counter seating available and i hear the wait can be long but there was no wait on snowmageddon day 2015
–Tan Tan ramen: heard this is a must order if you like spicy! and i'm glad i did, the broth really hit the spot even though it wasn't actually spicy.. doesn't come with an egg FYI but you can add one
NOTE: CASH ONLY
One of my favorite ramen spots in the city. First off, it's tiny. 15 bar top seats, so don't come for the ambience or for a leisurely meal. But the food is excellent.
My favorite part is that they have multiple options for veggie ramen (shoyu, miso, spicy, curry), all of which are delicious. They have a good selection of meat ramens as well as appetizers and other dishes. Everything I've tried has been delicious. The veggie ramens all have a very flavorful broth, tons of chewy noodles, and lots of veggies added in to make it a full meal.
Service is better than you'd expect for such a tiny place. Waters are refilled, meals come out relatively quickly, someone will check on you once your food is served. But with only 15 seats, they don't want you hanging around all night or taking up lots of space if you aren't going to order anything.
Prices are fair for the type of food and the area. $10-$14 for a bowl of ramen. There is a lunch special if you come before 3pm. Portions are large but not enormous.
I would definitely recommend if you want a quick, delicious meal on the UES. Just be prepared to wait for a table especially during rush times.
I am STILL not convinced by this place. The line to get in is usually huge and the place is very tiny. I always enjoy being next to the kitchen and being able to see how my food is prepared. On the other hand, I have had way better ramen than at Naruto's. Good job on the menu, that offers more than just ramen.
If you are in the area, I wouldn't make it necessarily a MUST have.
Solid ramen joint. It's nice to have a ramen shop in this area serving up decent ramen, however would not go out of my way. Better ramen places in the city, but again Yorkville is lacking in ramen joints so this place is a winner for this part of town. 😉 The Naruto ramen (shoyu) is my go to, basic and tasty. Also enjoy the miso ramen. Very small tight space, basically a counter. Had delivery a few times over the years since they opened and suggest eating in the restaurant.. doesn't deliver well… Cheap lunch set. Good place to satisfy your ramen fix when you're up in Yorkville and don't feel like traveling below 86th St… 😉
It's a tiny place.
Tiny. And they only offer bar stool seating along the length of the restaurant, facing the kitchen, which is always fun to watch.
I would not recommend going to Naruto Ramen with more than one other person, for conversation sake. And, it might be a wait to get seats.
They have a good menu that varies from ramen, curry, to katsu don.
They also have tako wasabi- raw octopus, tossed in wasabi. It's a great side to have with a nice, cold beer.
We got their chicken curry (not the Kara Age) and Miso Ramen.
Both were good.
The chicken curry was slightly breaded, not deep fried like it would have been if we got the Kara Age chicken curry.
The ramen was made to order, which is a huge plus.
The employees are not Japanese.
The kitchen staff is mostly Latino. And the waitresses are non-Japanese Asians. Or in the very least, look Asian.
No frills ramen spot. It's a cash only establishment that is bar stool seating and gets extremely busy during normal dinner hours. I usually like to go on off peak hours (after 8:30 pm) and can usually find a seat.
The service is relative prompt and I've never had an issue with service. Options are great and consistent. Def recommend for your local ramen fix – just don't expect any bells and whistles when going.
Amazing ramen spot in the upper east side.
Space – Narrow. Bar layout with the kitchen and dining intertwined.
Takoyaki – Nailed it. Perfect spheres with a hearty piece of fresh octopus in the center.
Naruto Ramen – Savory. Loved the chicken broth, and the generous portions of melt-in-your-mouth pork.
Miso Ramen – A hint of sweet.
If you're a fan of spicy, they have a spicy ramen bowl challenge that will memorialize you on their wall of fame if you successfully complete.
I love you Naruto! I'm so thankful that this is my local ramen eatery. The food is always delicious and the prices are very reasonable, with ramen starting at $9 (Naruto Ramen) and going up to about $12 (Kimchi Ramen). I would say Naruto has a considerably cheaper menu in comparison to other ramen alternatives in the area, which comes in handy with their cash only policy if you're like me and never have that much on you at a time.
The space itself is quite small; about 15 bar chairs in total. There's been a few weekend afternoons were I've gone in solo and been seated immediately, but I would anticipate a little bit of a wait when you come here. If you live nearby and want to skip the line, I recommend calling ahead to order for pickup.
