  1. 5 stars for their sushi, but had to take 1 star off for their super slow service (and by slow, I mean I finished my entire bottle of beer before any food came out). Let me start off by saying Osaka has AMAZING special rolls. My new thing is to stay away from my normal rolls and venture outside the box (sorry salmon avocado and spicy yellowtail rolls – we're just on a temporary break…but I still miss you!). This spot has two of my favorite special rolls! The millennium roll (blue fin toro & avocado roll with spicy crunchy scallop on top, $14) – TO DIE FOR. If one were to describe a sushi mouth-gasm, this roll would be it for me. I would try anything with blue fin toro, but the spicy scallop on top was like the icing on the cake. PERFECTION! My other favorite is the white river roll (spicy crunchy sea scallop topped with white tuna and avocado, $13) – everyone raves about this roll and it is def worthy! If you're not starving (like I was) and can handle the wait, def try their special roll menu out. I can't wait to come back!

  2. I went this place with my hubby last Thursday evening. I was craving for lobster tempura roll. It was a good surprised how good the roll was! It was unique that was wrapped by cucumber, instead of seaweed. Spicy miso with mussel was excellent. Seafood tartar, futomaki was very good as well. We did few take out already since we visited this place. We will go back to the restaurant again!

  3. While my love of this restaurant still stands, it has lost its edge. The last time I came, I felt uninspired by the sushi (good, but not J.I.M.P. good as I experienced last year). My favorite place is to sit at the bar when it's cold outside and outdoors when it's warmer. However, the Omakase needs a facelift… or a dynamic offering (the same items get old, you know?).

  4. I was so happy to have found this place while living in Brooklyn – the Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill area. It was only minutes away from the apartment that I was subleasing, and that was by foot. S and I deemed it one of our favorite restaurants in the area.  The fish was fresh [We witnessed the sushi chef carving out slabs from the giant tuna!], and the dishes YUMMY!  I think the waitress was Chinese, but I'm not going to hate on the place. In fact, I loved it. S is a big guy, so we usually ordered quite a bit. Portions were still generous, and the bill was never too expensive.

    Consistent = good.

  5. Basic neighborhood sushi. Nothing great, nothing particular horrible. Average fish and selection. That said, there is so much better in the hood. Ki Sushi… Cube 63 even.
    To echo some other reviews, their service is spotty: from mediocre to clueless (I have a story). Also, I am glad to see that other users have noticed how the 'owners' seem to like to yell and berate the waitstaff. Hilarious times.

  6. Eh.

    Went here for the first time in months for dinner last night and forgot what I liked about this place. The sushi just wasn't as fresh as I had remembered while the prices were as high as I remembered.

    I ordered chirashi (scattered sushi) and asked for no shellfish which they confirmed and promptly (or rather, after awhile) brought the dish out with shrimp and crab. So I had to send it back and wait some more for it after already a pretty long wait.

    They do have some pretty cool appetizers though, like Hamachi Kama. Who knew that yellowtail jaw would be so delicious?

    Anyway, I'm not done with Osaka, just took my enthusiasm over it down a notch. Plus they don't even make you take your shoes off anymore for sitting at the special table. Where's the authenticity!?
