  1. After reading the first four 5-Star reviews, I eagerly looked forward to my dinner here. The restaurant is easily found right on the frontage road of Route 3.

When we arrived at 6pm on a Wednesday, the place was nearly empty – uh oh, not a good sign. I was surprised when the hostess asked if we had a reservation – really, you only have 3 other groups. At this point, we were seated and immediately inundated with tuxedo-clad servers. They were all attentive and well-mannered, but it seemed unnecessary to have at least four people tending to us.

The food is why we came, so lets get to it. I started with a traditional Caesar salad, followed by linguine with clams in red sauce. The salad had good flavor and was well dressed, but I was really disappointed that a 'traditional' salad didn't include anchovies. Perhaps other diners would be horrified by the sight of these, but I was really looking forward to them. The linguine and clams was nice – a HUGE portion of linguine served with several shelled clams and highlighted with about 6 clams in the shell. It was a good balance. The sauce had good flavor, but was too thin. I felt like I was mostly eating pasta and clams with just barely a hint of sauce. Good, but not great.

Overall, I would give this place a second chance, but would really need to be wow'd to get me a third time.

  2. The wine list was quite extensive with many French, Italian and California wines represented. I could not find a Malbec on the list, though. Two colleagues and I had dinner on Sept 26. We started out with the salads an fresh breads. For main course, I had the black linguine fra diavola while my colleagues had Collosal shrimp over Cavatelli, and Fresh Market Fish with clams and shrimp. All meals were very fresh and savory. My colleagues and I were quite impressed and satisfied.

  3. Decent food, really good service… but not worth the price.

The highlight of our meal (in my eyes) was the appetizer we ordered – stuffed tomato with sausage, cheeses (i think fontina and something else) and potatoes. It was a special. It would have been perfect but for the potatoes, which were really superfluous. The tomato was the star of the dish, with sausage and other accoutrements really just there to compliment the tomato.

The bread basket was mostly a throw away. Decent bread (could have been a lot better), but good quality olive oil. We didn't touch the packaged breadsticks.

We both ordered pasta dishes for entrees and were underwhelmed. My pasta, the fettuccine con funghi, was okay. The pasta was a bit too soft and it was underseasoned, but the mushrooms were delish. He thought his linguini with white clam sauce was "interesting," although the clams were sparse. He requested bread to sop up the copious liquid in the bowl.

The decor is kind of a throw back. I felt like I could have been on the Titanic or in an old-school country club dining room. It was nice – just odd. The chairs looked divine, but were way too soft making them acutely uncomfortable. If you're going to have white tablecloths, they should really be clean and not stained red from sauce.

Servers in tuxes were great, although there was a bit too much staff for the crowd, so there were a lot of people who seemed to be watching us.

By the way, there was no valet the Saturday night we were there. It could have been because we were there early, but it was an odd moment to park when it appeared there was valet.

$45 per person, and we did not order alcohol. Not at all worth it. I don't understand the great reviews!

  4. Brought a friend in for lunch on their recommendation.

Location is easy to get to and has free valet parking. We were promptly seated and the waiter brought out some oilves and warm bread, both were very good.

I ordered the Caesar salad with anchovies to start. The salad was a good size, not overly dressed and served with toasted garlic chips. The anchovies were outstanding, soft, not bony and full of flavor. Well worth the extra $3.

I opted for the ravioli special which was six large ravioli filled with broccoli rape and spicy sausage and serve with a tomato, porcini and long hot sauce which paired quite well. For the price the size was more than I expected and I should have taken some home. But I am a cavone, so I ate the whole damn thing.

They brought out dessert menus but all I could handle was a rich double espresso which the waiter graciously refilled after I had paid the check.

Very good restaurant and I would return for dinner to try more of their entrees.

  5. I have eaten here a few times when in the area on business. Like the other reviewers said, top-notch surrounding and service, just shy of requiring a jacket, etc.

On each occasion, we've allowed the waiter to recommend an Italian Chianti, and have never been disappointed. I would also listen to the specials, as they are truly that.

On this last occasion, I had the featured salad – a watermelon salad with tomatoes, red onion, fresh basil, radish sprouts, and goat cheese. What an awesome combination! I was very indecisive on dinner, but went with a menu item of a snapper fillet in a white wine sauce, topped with assorted shellfish, capers, etc. I was absolutely perfect, and would probably be my go-to dish if one of the specials doesn't absolutely call out to me. Coworkers had one of the ravioli dishes with sausage, etc. and the other pasta in vodka sauce. Everyone was very pleased with their choices.

Treat yourself to a meal here!

  6. I remember coming here a few years ago and thought it was okay, but needed some updating and it wasn't anything I would rave about. In fact my parents took me and they wouldn't go back. Now, it's absolutely beautiful and I love bringing people here. It's very trendy, sophisticated, upscale, and classy. When you walk inside you feel like you're on a yacht or a cruise, it has this awesome summer theme with a cute little beach bench and beautiful colors painted on the walls. After the main entrance is the bar area which has a small beautiful rectangular bar with few tvs. Every bartender I've met there is super nice too. Past the bar area is the the main dining room which I love! It's super trendy looking, very Manhattan-esque. I love the plush, comfortable chairs, I could stay there for hours. They also have a room past the main dining area with a fire place that's a bit closed off, so I suppose if you asked to be seated in there, you could have some extra privacy. It's really cute. Moving on, I came on a Saturday a few weeks ago and they had a guy planning live music which was nice and the place wasn't super crowded, which allowed for a great dinner without shouting at one another. The service is excellent, they check up on you constantly and there's always enough servers so if your server is busy, you can ask someone else for whatever it is you need. Last time I went we had baked clams oreganata, which comes in the most delicious lemon, wine and butter sauce & the tuna tartare which was also tasty. Both dishes were a bit small, so we ended up ordering a few apps. For dinner they offered about 6 different specials, one of them being a pasta dish in a spicy marinara sauce with lobster. I asked if he could make the dish in a different kind of sauce, like a piccata sauce, and the chef was happy to accommodate. Everyone I was with loved their food too. One of the owners, Liam, is a super nice guy, and he made sure to come over, say hello and make sure we were pleased with our experience. They have an excellent wine menu and the food menu has a lot of options too, and as I stated earlier, they are happy to accommodate your requests, which is nice. We had the flourless cake for desert which was tasty and some after dinner drinks. We were treated exceptionally well. Definitely recommend checking out!

  7. I came in for a business lunch, all scruffy, fresh from a warehouse site visit. I felt way under-dressed, but the staff greeted me warmly. My chair was pulled out and pushed back in by the staff EVERY time I got up. My napkin was refolded every time I walked away. The service was great from beginning to end! They made me feel like a lady…as scruffy as I was.

The food is excellent. The guys the flanked me had their fish on a bed of veggies. Nice plating. I ordered the pork chop, medium well. My manager laughed as he saw my plate coming. The picture I posted does NOT do it any justice. My pork chop was massive! It was seasoned just right and cooked evenly throughout. I usually tackle all-things-pork in one sitting, but I had to toss in the towel on this one. I took my leftovers home and sucked the bones off dry! Delish!

    My overall experience was perfect.
Décor and ambiance was nice and warm.
The service was fancy…the prices were not.
Food was delicious. Every appetizer and plate was thoroughly enjoyed.

    P.S.
Slam dunk on that olive oil! Had my of-so-Italian director wooing about it and my manager trying to figure out how we could take some with us.

  8. Came here for dinner on a weekday night. Wasn't too crowded which was exactly what I wanted. The atmosphere was very classy on the inside. You would never know it from the outside. It has a very sophisticated feel.
Had some wine to start- average.
I ordered the zuppe de pesce which was tasty.
My friend ordered the porkchop which was probably the best porkchop I have every tasted. I highly recommend it! Service was great as well.
