  1. I really want to like this place, I do. But I just don't. I've dined here several times and each time left me a little more dissatisfied.

First I'll start with the good. Dining here is an experience. The place is an authentic old school Italian restaurant. From the huge portions to the loud owner (or maybe it's just some guy that's always there) standing by the bar telling people stories in a thick Italian accent, you feel like you're on Smith Street 20 years ago.

The bad is everything else. Even though about three different waiters served us and described the specials they still got my order all wrong. I decided to order fish which comes with your choice of sauce and pasta. I ordered Red Snapper with the rosemary sauce and ziti. What I got was Red Snapper with clams and a seafood sauce and spaghetti. (I hate clams!)

The waiter did not appear to speak English well but eventually after checking what he wrote and looking at my plate he took it away. My dish was brought back a few minutes later in the proper sauce and still with the wrong pasta. I didn't bother sending it back again.

It tasted terrible, basically whatever clam sauce the fish absorbed was now mixed with the rosemary sauce creating an unappetizing new sauce. I didn't eat it.

The rest of the meal was ok though very very heavy, even for Italian food. If this is authentic Italian I guess I'll stick to the less authentic places.

  2. This is an Italian restaurant that is part of Sal's pizzeria. Separate entrance but still a pizzeria restaurant. Veal cutlet parmigiana decent but not over the top. Very large portion but I like my cutlets fried crisp. They were very moist and breading falling off in a good tasting tomato sauce. Full bar, but a very light pour on Jack & Gin. Service excellent and quick, but we were the only one's in the restaurant. Was it good, yes but nothing more than a pizzeria serving Italian dinner entrees. Had to try a slice, and it was crispy and enjoyable. Complimentary limoncello was delicious.

  3. It's so hard to give this place a lower star count because the staff there is so wonderful and the food is great (for the most part when the proper chef is there).

I've never had the pizza so i can't speak about that, but this is my bf's all time favorite place for chicken parmesan EVER. It's a gigantic portion with a side pasta and sauce of choice. I have had a few items on the menu including lamb (which was FANTASTIC!).

The food is hit or miss – we've been here before where the seafood was spoiled, but still cooked and brought out (this was under a diff chef).  But mostly the food is wonderfully prepared when the good chef is there (he's come and gone and come and gone).

The waiters are wonderful!!! Luis and Felix – the bestest! They are so sweet and sincere and go above and beyond for customers. I wanted a strawberry drink and they didn't have anymore strawberries so they went out and bought fresh strawberries for my drink. How AMAZING!

Overall this place would do so much better if the owner did something to change the atmosphere or was more… something. Instead, what he's done is drive away some of his long standing customers with his price hikes that are through the roof! i think the chicken parm used to be a GREAT price  and then out of nowhere spiked up to 5+ and was a smaller portion. Though it doesn't seem like that much, it's huge if you weren't expecting it. It's not the staff's fault that the way the business is being run.

I look forward to eating here again since it's been awhile, but there will always be that irk in the back of my mind about how things used to be..

  4. Saw this spot on Kitchen Nightmares some time back and was surprised it was still in business (most of those restaurants don't last long). Friday night and plenty of seating around for our group.

Menu consists of your typical Italian dishes boasting homemade pasta. With that, decided to keep it classic and get the Spaghetti & Meatballs ($12) and a glass of wine ($8). For starters, they give you a pile of bread (assorted) to start off – warm and goes well with the wine I ordered. Food arrives and I'm served a mountain of spaghetti with 4 very large meatballs on top, drowned in marinara sauce. The sauce and spaghetti are excellent, in that filling way you'd expect it to be. The meatballs are okay, expected more seasoning inside, but dunked in the marinara, it works.

Like the ambiance here, and the service is friendly. Table next to us was holding an event of some sort, so a good place to do that as well. A nice throwback option for the area.

  5. Sick.

That's what happened to me. I went to a graduation party here in July thinking that it will be a good time with tons of food and wine, but instead of getting sick off wine, I got sick off the food.

The food was endless but it was either the baked clams or the chicken that really made me quiver later in the night. Also, the waiters are morons, they kept walking around spilling the food on people as they asked if you wanted some of it. They also have terrible accents, as in funny stupid accents that you can make fun of.

Anyway, let's get to what happened to me after I ate at this terrible restaurant. It began maybe 4 hours later? Actually, maybe that isn't the greatest story but do ME a favor, don't go here. Thinking about another person going through what I went through is making me sick again.
