Sinigual

“It seems like this place, with its' contemporary decor and lighting, would be a fun happy hour haunt.”

“lol think it rivals or may be even better than Dos Caminos for NYC's large scale Mexican restaurant.”

“I pretty much always go for the shrimp enchiladas but other favorites include the lobster quesadillas and the dos favoritos.”

  1. Went here for an early dinner with my girlfriend. Was very crowded, but we still got seated right away.

We started off with guacamole, prepared tableside. I have had better but it was still very good.

Then I had the steak fajitas. While the 26 dollar price tag is a little steep, these were absolutely delicious. Steak was prepared just how I asked, and the onions and peppers were extremely flavorful. Loved every bite.

  2. I didnt have the food, but solid strong, $6.99 margaritas suntil 7 p.m. No complaints!

  3. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city. Their food is tasty and reasonably priced. Their Quacamole is just ok, but I love their Shrimp Diablo dish. It is very flavorful and filling. Their desserts are just ok, could use some improvement on variety. Good selection of drinks. I try to return whenever I can.

  4. First of all–happy hour.  Such a great happy hour.  Working (and previously living) in Murray Hill means being around a lot  of the super social fratty-type happy hours.  There are a few places, though, where you can still get cheap drinks ($6 margaritas) while feeling like a totally classy, actual grown up adult.  Sinigual is one of those places.  Their mango margarita is delicious and their drinks are strong.

The guacamole is amazing.  The chips and salsa that they put out on the table is spot on.

I had dinner there for the first time last night.  I ordered the chile relleno, which is not something I usually order but the vegetarian options were shockingly limited.  The Chile Relleno was deep friend and DELICIOUS.  the beans, the rice, all delicious.  Service was great.

I only took off a star because I do want like a few more vegetarian options.

  5. Had dinner here a couple weeks ago since it's attached to my office building and it was absolutely brick outside to walk any further than turning a corner.

We had one too many margaritas, all priced fairly in comparison to other restaurants, but sad to not be able to get happy hour deals on them unless you're sitting at the bar.

The fish tacos were pretty good in terms of texture, flavor, and freshness. The chicken fajita was cooked with just the right amount of heat- came out piping hot. Service has gotten better or the waiter we had that night was simply more attentive than the dancing queen (in the corner) waitress I've had previously.

This place is not upscale by any means, but it's good for business lunch (and everyone seems to know that around here since it's always super packed), and a relaxing dinner. It's clean and has booth seats. The kitchen is in the back in plain view. Nice to see the vent works well in there, as the fajita orders never seem to stop!

  6. Coworker recommended this great spot for my going away luncheon & what a great suggestion.

The staff was kind and courteous from start to finish. This place seems to be very popular since it was crazy packed so make sure to make a reservation. Our waiter was very personable and attentive and as a former waiter remembering all of the specials is hard so he did a great job.

Our drinks were amazing and strong. Really happy that they made great drinks, it's my going away party so I wanted something strong although only one before going back to work .

I can't recall the name of my drink & food so check out the pictures . Great atmosphere, great staff and food was delicious so I highly recommend and will come again.

The only negative for me was I had a reservation for 6 but only 5 were available due to a meeting conflict but all 6 of us would not have fit comfortably in the table I believe was meant for 4.

  7. Seems like every Saturday night, I find myself here, for dinner or even just cocktails with friends. That's really saying something.  Why is it that I live in Manhattan, the bastion of delicious food, but I go to the same places? Mostly because I'm lazy but also because Sinigual is pretty delicious!

To start your meal, servers don't bring out cliche chips and salsa, but instead warm, soft tortillas with salsa and honey butter. Ho. Lee. Smokes. I really love warm carbs schmeared with butter. Whatever they feed me after that doesn't matter.

I always order the same thing as my entree, two appetizers: chicken tortilla soup and steak nachos. Pete usually gets fajitas but we share everything. Their soup is delicious and has fresh avocado, so I don't mind paying $9 for a bowl of soup because it's my entree. But the prices here are commensurate with the Grand Central proximity. The food and service (water refills, etc.) are definitely worth it, which keeps us coming back.

  8. Had a good experience at Sinigual recently.  The restaurant has similar prices to Dos Caminos, but has better food and service.

I ordered the table side guacamole and the fajita salad.  Both were good and I would order them again.  My boyfriend had the steak fajitas and liked them, as well.

I also had the pineapple margarita.  It was expensive, but was good and fairly strong.

Prices were a little high, but I had a good experience and plan on visiting again soon!
