  1. Walking through China Town we see stairs.  Where do those stairs lead to?  Go down them and you will find out.  PULQUERIA.  Bottoms up!  They had a reverse happy hour of Sangria, so we had that.  This place was perfect to start the night.

The restaurant is separated into two areas…the Bar and the dinning area. You can order food in the bar and it is a fun spot!  People are dancing (dance floor is a little tight), ordering drinks was easy and service top choice.

The drinks – Very flavorful, between the Margarita, sangria and the tequila cocktails we were out numbered.

Decor was nice and colorful with dim lights – interesting take.

  2. The food here is AMAZING! For someone who doesn't usually go for Mexican food, I was blown away by how good this place was. I highly recommend the Esquites and the salad. For a Mexican restaurant, they have a wide variety on the menu that can appeal to anyone, which is hard to find. I give the food, drinks, and service 5 stars. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Only let down for me was the atmosphere and decor. It's too dark, there's only one bathroom with no mirror, and the place just looks a little cheap. But, overall, everyone else is perfect and I will definitely be coming back!

  3. The bar was set really high after finding out these are the same folks behind Apotheke.  Walk down the really shady looking street, find the really shady looking steps and get down to three doors. Pick the right one and you'll end up in a beautiful space. Off to your left is the bar area and off to your right is the dining room. I'm absolutely amazed/thankful that a place like this accepts online reservations.

The drinks are some of the best that you can get at a tequila bar in manhattan and the creative menu was fun to pick at.  Spend the extra dollar and get the "special" guacamole.  The special guac last night had goat cheese, chipotle and cucumber.  They also had the option to give us cucumbers instead of the chips since we were a bit carb concious. The rib eye steak was divine and the chicken mole was some of the best I've ever had.  We wanted to order the pineapple drink but got turned off when we found out it was a frozen margarita (though I am sure that it is by no means something that they pull out of a daquiri machine).

Bring a date here, you'll be setting the standards really high.

  4. I can only speak to the night-life and the drinks. I have never tried their food.
I stopped by after going to "The Ship" for some bar-type of scene. You go down a set of stairs and the bar is in a basement type setting.
There are a couple of tables for you to sit down as well as seats by the bar.
When we got there around 10pm, it wasn't too crowded. But once it hit 11:30pm, there were groups of people and you were pretty much dancing with people all around you.
They play a good selection of music and I'm glad I found this place through yelp!

  5. Apparently they only have a summer menu out right now so there weren't too many options for vegetarians. If you're veg and looking to eat some dope Mexican food I would not recommend this place. The only thing we could really get on this menu were a side of rice and beans and some queso fundido. The queso fundido was weird. It was kinda sweet and super rubbery… It was hard to scoop it up on the chips. The sweet flavor was also surprising because they claim to have habanero in it…? I didn't have a great experience with the food. But the side of rice and beans are pretty tasty but that's about all we could really eat.

The inside decor is actually really cool and the service staff is great and attentive. I liked hanging out in there and I do think it's a great spot for grabbing a cocktail or two and I would go back for that. But the food was very below average. The drinks are pretty good we got the lime and jalapeño drink which I would recommend trying!

  6. I don't know what their food is like, but after having a good time at Apotheke, we decided to check out their sister bar, Pulqueria, where the DJs were playing an amazing mix. The dancefloor was not big, but appropriate for the number of people, and considering this place is a restaurant, I was very impressed.

  7. Avoid this place unless you have no other choice in the neighborough. Very expensive for very small portion and the food is just ok….just go to a chinese restaurant that you can find around, for exemple in the same street a very good noodle place 50 meters away.

  8. Nice atmosphere (dark, secluded), good food (giant portions, reasonable prices), delicious cocktails (a little expensive). We spent more than three hours here, and it only felt like a few minutes. And that's saying a lot, because there's nowhere I'd rather be than at home with my dog, but, anyway, I really liked it here, and I really cannot wait to return.
