great for groups, dinner and a show on weekends. Hummus and liver cubes lack taste. kebabs are small, checks pics!
Great neighborhood Uzbek restaurant. I love coming here during the summer, you can sit in the outside area and enjoy hookah with dinner and drinks! I have been here many times for private parties as well. The food is always good, I recommend the shepherds salad, liver cubes, skirt steak, and kebabs. Sometimes I come here just for some dessert and hookah with friends for a low-key night.
Oh, and am I the only one that finds it strange that this place is in between a carwash and a laundromat?
It's a typical Brooklyn Russian speaking restaurant. The selection on the menu includes herring, liver, beef tongue and other Russian favorites. There is a belly dancer and music after 10pm. The belly dancer show is pretty simple, but it's nice they have it.
My personal favorites are beef and lamb kebabs and wedding pilaf. The kebabs come out juicy and the pilaf is greasy and full of flavor. Kebabs are about $4.50 and two are enough for one person. If you take 4 kebabs and a wedding pilaf for 2 people, it's more than enough for dinner and it's about $30 – not bad for a dinner.
The service is inconsistent, some of the waiters are really good, but some take a long time to get an order or its hard to catch them if you need something.
The food come out from the kitchen very quick and not at the same time. This is the place to go for family style dinner and share as you won't get all your food at the same time.
Good food if you know what you are getting. Very reasonable prices. The rest of experience is ok.
I am a big fan of this place and would go there every night if I could. The fish is always perfectly grilled and the salads are amazing. I did not give 5 stars because the service while friendly is painfully slow! Love this place though.
Came here last summer w/ E and I enjoyed the experience. It was one of the hottest and most humid days in August and we opted to sit out in the garden/patio area. They had fans blowing which created nice little breezes for the customers.
We started off w/ their version of a Fresh Salad which had shrimp, avocados, tomatoes, lemons, and dill scooped into the avocado shells and placed artfully on a long plate. The salad itself was very filling and we could've just stopped ordering at that point. But no, the smells of the shashlik were intoxicating so we ordered chicken kebobs because if there's anything the Uzbeks do best, it is chicken, rice, and soup.
The kebobs were excellent and juicy but the Nargis version is slightly better. I ate so much during the meal that I didn't eat again until the next day.
As an aside, since I couldn't have any- the bread smelled and looked amazing. I debated whether or not it was worth getting sick over a piece of bread with butter but my boyfriend ended that thought swiftly by moving the platter away from me.
Anyway, service was very slow thus the two stars off but since it was muggy and we were enjoying their breezy patio, we didn't mind it too much.
Very flavorful chicken. Pilaf was magnificent as well.
The vegetables in the sauce were a little soggy but i will give them a pass on that one. Keep doing your thing 1001 nights. Well done!
1001 Nights in the kind of place that is more than a restaurant but an experience. With lots of Uzbek, Russian, Turkish and other related cuisines in this area 1001 Nights stands out. The food is above average, the service is attentive and the performances are always tastefully done.
Try the skirt steak or any of the kebabs if you want something great!
Have no complaints at all!
My partners and I have ordered from here now 2 times and it just keeps getting better. We ordered enough food for 5-6 people and it was delicious but the best part of it is that it came out to $100 bucks with a good tip for delivery.
We ordered skirt steak, fried pelmeni, chicken kebab, fresh salads and some delicious grilled shrimp.
Everything was on the money.
To add more to why this place is getting a 5 star review from me. About a month ago I was there for a friends birthday and the food was on point. There was lots of courses along w some great service.
To top things off they do an evening belly dancer show that was very entertaining was the perfect length in time.
If you are looking for a new place to have a sit down birthday dinner or celebrate some sort of small occasion this is on my recommend list!
