Came here on a Friday for dinner and drinks with friends! It was busy, and the hostess did not provide the most accurate wait time information, but we got drinks at the bar while we waited so it wasn't a big deal. When we sat, we ordered the guac and chips, which was delicious! We also ordered the Mexican burger and the chicken torta sandwich. All our food tasted great. My favorite part was the margarita tower! So great for a group!
Great Mexican food, Margaritas, and Service
I went here on a Saturday night for dinner and was able to get a table pretty quickly. When you walk in you will notice loud pop music playing and large bar with a bunch of high tables. You feel like you are walking into a fiesta!
We were greeted by a nice waitress and ordered the chips and salsa ($4) a surprise to me since most Mexican restaurants come with chips and salsa. We also split the big margarita and got the mango flavor in it with the chicken enchiladas, chicken tacos. The margarita was made perfectly and the chicken enchiladas were so good with the sweet green sauce on top and the tacos were really good too and good portions.
In short:
– Great Margaritas
– Good food with good portions
– Friendly wait staff
NO.
We called ahead of time to see if reservations were necessary. When we got a hold of someone they said they don't take reservations for this hour. When we arrived, the owner asked "do you have reservations?" Uhm….what?!
Aside from that mess, this place is still a big fat 'no' in my book.
Too loud.
Too many people.
Too much non-authenticity.
I only got the Mexican corn and chips and salsa, which were fine, but really no reason to go back.
Advice: do not come on Cinco de mayo. We waited for 1.5-2 hours (not sure why we agreed to that). The food was average- my friend and I were thinking of how Chipotle was much tastier when we got our burrito bowl, but the much awaited guac was delicious. Come here if there's a short wait and for the Stone st atmosphere, but it's not a must in my opinion. The waitress was busy, as expected, but still pretty friendly.
I came to meet my friend for happy hour around 4:45 and this place was already packed! good ambience and crowd – a nice mix and not too many tourists (even though i am a tourist)
I ordered something called the "margarita tower"… my friend texted me to order this as a joke while i was waiting for him and i couldnt read through the sarcasm. This thing is MASSIVE and meant for 10 people. It is exactly what you think it is – 3 liters of margarita. Impressively we got through 2 liters and had to give the last liter away. The margarita itself was very good, not too sweet. To say the least, i felt it after the first margarita and throughout the night. I think if you are looking to get pretty smashed, it would be perfect for 5 people. 10 people if you are just looking for a buzz. I paid a total of $99 for this and gave a $20 tip because the bartender was so nice and accomodating.
Can I just say muy bien ?! Their margaritas are pure deliciousness! And if you like guacamole ….. THIS is the go to place. They hand make the guacamole to order in a stone dish and you can get it as spicy as you'd like . Which to me is great because I love a little kick to my guacamole! Whether you live in NYC or are visiting I would highly recommend this place! Heck, I went 2 times while I was there (haha). There's also a lot of other cool bars and food places around if you wanted to look for something different !
Hands down might be the best margaritas and chicken enchiladas I've ever had! So impressed with the food here I will definitely be coming back.
I also had the guacamole as a starter and it was delicious. For my entree I had the pollo enchiladas which came with rice and beans. The enchiladas were covered in a verde sauce which was to die for. Needless to say I cleaned my plate!
For drinks, my friends and I first ordered a pitcher of blood orange margaritas on the rocks. I'm not a big margarita lover but these were so good I couldn't resist. The pitcher is a good size. There were 4 people and we each had at least 2 margaritas each out of the pitcher. We then tried just the classic margarita on the rocks and they were just as good.
I cannot wait to go back. It may be a little pricey but it definitely worth it!!!
Next time I am going to sit outside on stone street. This place is great all around.
This is one of my all time favorie mexican retarurants in FiDi. I always get the red sangria and nachos with chicken. This used to be my go to happy hour place when I worked in FiDi.
Overall, the food, drinks and desserts are great. You can't say no after a pitcher of sangria. 🙂 Cheers!
