Pretty good ! The view is beautiful, right on the water over looking the city skyline. The outside area isn't available yet so you do have to sit indoors but there was floor to ceiling windows, so you still get the view. Greek restaurant that's traditional and has fresh catches of the day.
Our waiter was nice and authentic, and knowledgeable in the Greek cuisine. We had calamari, different spreads (red caviar is delicious), and sea bass and red snapper for mains. Ends off with baklava and Greek yogurt 🙂
Molos is a really nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the NYC skyline. I was here for a party, and our large group claimed most of the tables in the main room (closer to the bar — the tables to the back were for other guests). My friends and I got our first drinks at the bar until it was time to be seated.
They serve mostly Mediterranean fare, but they do have some great Italian-style appetizers. The calamari was yummy, but unfortunately came with both rings and tentacles (ew!). At least our party was set up for sharing plates, because my tablemates thankfully took all the tentacles! We also had some salad, and some cucumbers, and at least one other app dish (that I don't remember). The actual entrees were a little disappointing though. The chicken was dry, and the steak was also a bit overcooked. I wasn't too excited about either, honestly.
For dessert, we had our own cake from the party — which was very nice, but we weren't offered any coffee?! I didn't think that was possible in a Mediterranean restaurant! Instead, my table and I drank the last bits of our sodas and wine from the bar. Oh well. At least there's a beautiful view?
The view is to die for! I found myself sitting at this restaurant on a cold winter evening ready to enjoy the delicious fare that this establishment had to offer. But no matter how I tried to think about the food that would lie before me, I found myself constantly gazing at the breathtaking view outside. A restaurant that offers a 180 degree picture of the New York skyline is one of the most alluring experiences you will ever have. Add this with the fact that the intimate setting of the restaurant, with its elegant décor and warm glow of tea light candles, makes this place one romantic getaway for you to enjoy. There is no doubt that location alone has this place at the top of my list for places to visit for special occasions.
Now how about the food? Mediterranean food is full of flavor–flavor of the ocean and the land harmoniously coming together with just the right amount of olive oil. Opa indeed! For starters the lightly seared scallops on a bed of pomegranate quinoa are the perfect start to a meal. The slight sweetness of the scallop harmoniously blended with the tart and delicate flavor of the pomegranate and the quinoa providing the crunchy texture. The entrée was a superb exercise of perfectly cooked risotto with three jumbo shrimp accentuated by a delicious seafood broth. The risotto melted in my mouth and the shrimps with its head still attached couldn't have been more flavorful. It was truly an entrée that more than met my expectations. Dessert consisted of vanilla custard wrapped in filo. I believe it was called "galaktoboukero." Doesn't really matter what it was called though because what it truly represented was a sweet and memorable ending to a beautiful meal.
I suggest making your way here in the evening to truly experience the breathtaking view and the romantic atmosphere that abounds. A glass of wine, delicate Mediterranean flavors, and delicious desserts make for a truly special evening. Molos is a town in Greece. And while a trip to this restaurant might not physically transport you to such a wonderful destination, at least for a brief evening the magic of the Mediterranean comes to those who seek it at this waterfront haven.
If you're getting to Molo's via public transportation, it's about a ten minute walk from the light rail. It's not bad at all because you get to walk along the water. What one Yelper said is true – it doesn't matter where you sit because every table has a great view of the city.
My boyfriend and I came in on a Saturday for a boozy brunch. The drinks to choose from are mimosas, bellinis, and bloody marys. Avoid the Bloody Mary. It tasted really bitter and not because they put too much alcohol, but it almost tasted like they used a rotten tomato or something. Or maybe I was just unlucky but either way, mimosas and bellinis are usually a safe choice.
Onto the food – the brunch options didn't really seem like Greek dishes to me. Most of them sounded like dishes you could order at any other gastropub. The only Greek option I saw was the Greek salad. Everything else seemed plain, except for the fish tacos, which I ordered. These were pretty good – the fish tasted fresh, so I don't have any complaints there.
I'm not sure how their non-brunch options are but I would hope that at least those are more Greek!
I came here for an event and we were located upstairs. It was very spacious and the view was amazing! The service staff was on point, I probably drank a liter of water there and they were so prompt in filling my glass up!
On the other hand the food was disappointing. I felt my salmon had a fishy smell but I was ravenous and kept eating…Well I was at home sick for the rest of the day. This has never happened to me before… and I hadn't had anything to eat prior to this meal so I know it had to have been the salmon.
I would recommend coming here for the view and drinks….because that view is truly amazing…but skip the food….or at least the seafood.
Went for Hudson Restaurant Week Lunch
Food – 5/5. They start you off with grilled bread, marinated olives and hummus. The bread's char gives it a nice aroma and the hummus is creamy. The Pikilia has great variety with each dip having its own unique flavor. My favorite was the one with the roe, which had that oceanic salty taste to it, as it went great with their warm pita breads. Their souvlaki had a nice roasted flavor that was aromatic with garlic. The pita bread under the pork brochettes had soaked up the delicious marinade and pork juices finishing with a nice hint of lemon. Their fries were crispy, if a bit needing of a dip for flavor. The Galaktoboureko has a really nice custard texture but was a bit too mild on the sweetness level for my tastes.
Service – 4/5. Very professional; the server answered all my questions on the menu and was very knowledgeable on the food he serves being able to describe in detail every item on the Pikilia platter.
Price – 4/5. $20 for lunch is a high price to pay for most casual diners but the amount of food they give you is ginormous. The regular menu at Molos tends to have a higher price range being a waterfront restaurant, so the restaurant week prices are actually a great time to try the place out while being easy on your wallet.
Parking – Private Lot (Free)
First off the view is unbelievable, the restaurant sits right on the Hudson, and anywhere you sit gives you gorgeous views of the skyline. I did not get to try a lot of fish, like I wanted to at the yelp elite event, but what I did try, the food was good. It is a nice place to bring a date to, sip on some cocktails. They have a parking lot which is nice for the area, considering Weehawken and Hoboken are not the easiest sometime to find parking in. I would like to come back to try some more of their food, other than the finger food that was served at the yelp elit event.
I love the view of the Manhattan skyline from here. A romantic spot with beautiful white and blue decor. Love their whole fish selection, raw platters and wine list. I always start with their mezze which are all so delicious! I wish I was there now!
