I love chikurin. I've been it transform from the old japanese screen doors to the new more modern booths that they have today. I really miss the way it use to be but the food is still great. The waiters and waitresses are awesome and provide great service. It seems a little sketchy from the outside but go a head and give this place a try. The food is pretty awesome for the price.
this place is still a hit-or-miss, but the remodeled restaurant looks great, and the vegetable yaki udon was delicious. my meat-eating friend had more of a miss with her chicken teriyaki, but I still think it's the best Japanese joint in the area, and worth a shot if you have a craving for sushi, or even if all you want is some green tea mochi
I've gotten food poisoning from this Chikurin as well as their other location on Quentin Road. Stay Far Away!
I used to go here all the time, I live very close by and it was convenient for delivery as well. Last three times (was hoping third time would be a charm) the sushi was just not good. I don't know what it was about it but it just tasted different and bland! Not sure if they changed management or what happened but I am extremely disappointed!
Service was attentive and very friendly; the waitress remembers the name of all her customers. Decor was good. Staff, unfortunately, was Chinese. Normally I despise Japanese restaurants with Chinese staff because the food always has a sheen of peanut oil aroma and flavor, but this Chikurin wasn't bad in this respect.
Kama Hamatchi: A+
May be the best kama hamatchi I've ever had in my life.
Pork Yakisoba: B-
Nice flavor, but it was the wrong kind of noodle. This was almost like an angel hair pasta, not yakisoba noodles. Also, it was inexpertly cooked. Great yakisoba should be lightly charred in places. These noodles weren't and were a bit droopy. Still, they had a nice flavor, hence the B- rating and not a C+.
Never sat in, but I order delivery. This place is cheap and good! You definitely should try it.
Service: 2 star
Sushi: 2.5 star

I came here by a recommendation of a friend, and was utterly disappointed.
Orderd the black widow sushi, and some type of Miso soup,
Food: the rice and fish were not fresh at all, i not only realized it when I was eating, but also got an upset stomach. And of course that made the the taste to be off.
Also I had to cancel the Miso soup, because it never came out, I mean they did bring it out after I asked for the check, but even then it was still missing the ingredients that the menu listed it would have, like scallions etc.
Service: as I mentioned earlier my soup never came out, my server was dismissive, and unhelpful when trying to choose from the menu.
Price: why is a measly sushi roll with 5 thin slices $11??? Still don't get it, this was so overpriced!
LOVE it here. One of my favorite sushi places in brooklyn. I really like the taste and the prices are really good! They just did construction so the entire place looks so different. It looks AMAZING! I really like all of the Chikurin's but I like this one the most.
