  1. After living in the neighborhood for a year, I've finally had my pizza fix at Bklyn Pizza. They have just opened recently and it has become my favorite place to eat in Bed-Stuy. My first slice was the spinach and ricotta, I believe, and it was YUMMY. The staff is beyond affable. Aside from the variety of delicious slices, they have salads, sandwiches, hot food, and a whole lot more. Oh, and their garlic knots are on point! Thank you, Bklyn Pizza, for existing.

  2. Arancini! Any time I find them fresh made I have to get them and WHOA – they make them huge (they call them rice balls), softball-sized, and for like a dollar more you can get it cut in half and smothered in their delicious marinara and then broiled with mozzarella (parmesan style, if you will). It's less the $5 and it's a whole meal in itself. They fill theirs with my favorite style, a meat and pea mixture, and it was heavenly.

Did I mention we came here for pizza? We're from Orlando, we have some decent pizza, but we're in Brooklyn this week and we wanted REAL pizza. We were staying a few blocks from Bklyn Pizza and it was a nice night so we walked down, placed our order, had enough time to run next door to the convenience store and grab some drinks, got back and within another 3-4 minutes our order was ready. Barely a 10-minute wait and everything was fresh and hot (or cold in the case of my salad).

Aside from the heavenly arancini I mentioned, I had a regular slice with extra cheese, meatball, and black olives. The meatballs were delicious and had that nice caramelized crunch after being re-baked in the oven after slicing. The pizza itself had a thin but not too crunchy crust, perfect (not too sweet) sauce with a good hint of basil, and fresh, stretchy mozzarella.

I shared a small caesar salad with my friend and it was nice and fresh, although the dressing was a little thick and could have used a bit more garlic, but was still overall good. Plus really, not a lot of people go to a pizza place for salads.

My friend had a pizzette which is their version of a personal pizza, except it was 12" big and more than he could eat. He got the margarita which was perfectly balanced with its mix of tomato, mozzarella, and basil. You could taste each component fully, so delicious!

All of that (which I still have 2/3 of the arancini and he has 1/2 of his pizza, plus we didn't finish the salad) came to $22.

Great prices, great food, good service (we only ordered takeout so I can't vouch for dine-in). There are about 8 tables in the back so it's do-able for dine-in but I wouldn't try to do a large party in there unless you ate at an off time. Although their business was all take-out when we were there, so it might be okay to eat-in and not worry about waiting.

If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely come back!
