I came here on a Saturday night as a party of four.  We made a reservation via OpenTable and unfortunately, were about 20 minutes late.  We did however get seated relatively quickly despite the place being pretty packed.  We ordered a bunch of small plates and some cocktails off their beverage menu.

    All the food was decent, but left a bit to be desired. The cocktail quality was excellent and they even surprised us with a really badass whiskey sour (cocktail lounge quality with the egg white and freshly made sour mix).

    Service was with a smile, but a tad bit on the slow side.

  2. I'll start by saying I kind of dig this place. If you're into tequila or margaritas, they definitely have something for you. The food on the other hand was a bit hit or miss for me.

    We hung out by the bar and had a great time being within close range to the important menu items (the alcohol). Aside from that I look that the bar has hooks (ladies you'll appreciate that for your purses) and outlets on the patron side of the ad including USB outlets. This is a great touch- I'm certain that all bartenders of the world are getting pretty tired of being the gatekeepers to electricity and the protector of every patron's phone. I digress.

    We started out by ordering the guacamole and chips. They offer 3 types: traditional, verde (which was described as spicier) and pineapple. We decided it was a spicy type of night and opted to go with the verde. That was definitely a bad description: no true flavor and filled with random ingredients: pomegranate seeds and were those pine nuts or sunflower seeds? I have no idea what the heck was going on with the guacamole. What if I had a nut allergy? Nothing on that menu suggested that I should expect to bite into nuts. I guess their excuse would've been it's clearly visible once it comes out….and that's very true because unlike guacamole you are probably used to , these ingredients were not mixed together, but rather just placed in a small bowl together. Do yourself a favor and save your $12. My cousin suggested we order a traditional guacamole after we were both disappointed by this interpretation, but I was too afraid to try the traditional for fear that it would be, well not really traditional after our first experience.

    Nonetheless, the bartender totally rocked and our drinks were vet tasty. I tried the traditional and habanero versions.

    Onto dinner: I ordered the fish tacos and my cousin ordered the sea bass. They were actually both really tasty.  I'd recommend either if given the option again.

    In summary, I'll go back, order some margaritas, chat with the nice staff, charge my phone with the super convenient USB chargers and order a tasty entree. I'll just be sure to skip the guacamole at all costs.

  3. Came here with two friends on a Wednesday night. The decor was nice, the waitstaff was very friendly, and the food was solid.

    For food, my friends and I shared the guac & chips, the fish tacos, the mushroom tacos, and the mixed salad.

    The guac & chips were good, but much too small. The fish tacos, which is one of my favorite dishes generally, was pretty disappointing. The fish was essentially tasteless, much too beer battered, and the tacos were too slimy and spicy with big chunks of jalapeno. Meh.

    But, the mushroom tacos were surprisingly smoky and good and the mixed salad was a surprising standout. It was HUGE and had pomegranate and pumpkin seeds. Yesssss!!! Highly recommend.

    During our meal, the service was almost too attentive; they kept taking things away that we hadn't completely finished, which was…weird. But, I'd say that's much better than being ignored. 🙂

    Overall, a good place.

  4. Restaurant was super trendy and unique. I sat outside because it was SUPER hot in the restaurant… Not sure if they didnt have AC or didnt turn it on. Then when we got there we we waited so long for our waitress to finally come take our order. When she went to bring our mimosas she dropped the entire tray of drinks shattering about 6 champagne flukes and got mimosas all over the floor… We ended up having to wait another few mins for her to compose herself and come out to bring us new drinks. We were a little annoyed because we knew about the 2 hour drink minimum, but we understood she was probably overwhelmed. I ordered the Tacos, which were just alright, they ended up forgetting to put the meat in my tacos and came back out with a little tray of meat saying "here, we forgot to put meat in your tacos." I actually really really enjoyed the chips and guac, it was so good! Probably wouldnt come here again, it wasnt anything spectacular, but I did enjoy that $29 bottomless brunch deal.

  5. I was coming out of work when I passed this spot and saw the free Yelp deal. It was too good to pass up, so I went in for a snack break. I also got a jalapeño margarita, to go along with my salsa Quattro. The chips were cut in a big tortilla style, crispy and delicious. The salsas were habanero, salsa verde, burnt cilantro crema, and salsa Arbol. This is a nice trendy place for tapas, the atmosphere is relaxed, and food is great.

  6. A beautifully decorated Mexican restaurant that gives a classic/Romaric vibe. Good size, lost of table, good service, but mediocre food. I understand it's a tapas place, but still, the portion seemed too small for the price.

    Food:
    Salsa Quattro – big, crispy, well-seasoned tortilla chips. All four sauces were enjoyable. They gave a free refill of tortilla chips.
    Ceviche mixto – a bit bland and there was something unpleasantly bitter in it.
    Pork tacos – pork was well cooked. Nice and soft, but could be better with more spices or more sauce or topping.

Anejo caught my attention due to its location, appearance and tequila / mezcal theme.  Here's the quick version.  It's located in what I call "Bartender's Row" at the top of Church Street.  The building is classic, old TriBeCa so it's an attractive room.  The food, drinks and service were done well.  It is loud on a Friday night!  If you care to read on…

    This section of Church Street offers a menu of cocktail and food options and Anejo has a fine corner LOCATION.  It happens to be across the street from my current favorite so, coming in here was kind of an opportunity cost.  If you happen to come here for drinks and don't care to stay, there are plenty of options nearby.

    The DECOR is of my favorite type.  Large, square high ceiling with lots of ornate detail and curvy wood trim.  I don't recall the music so, I suppose that means it was either non-existent (doubtful) or not annoying.  The reason I mention the music (that I don't recall) is that the voice levels and acoustics make this establishment one of the louder experiences on memory (clouded as it may be).

    The FOOD was better than I expected.  I'm a Mexican food snob so, if you're not as picky as me, you'll be fine here.  We ordered guac and salsa.  My nit here is that although they offer a range of salsas, they make you pay.  I understand paying for guac.  Paying for salsa is kind of like paying or water.  They have a selection of tacos.  I had the short ribs and she had the fish.  We split our orders to get a taste of each.  I favored the short ribs.  She preferred the fish.

    The DRINKS were excellent.  I prefer Mezcal over Tequila and both are available here.  I also prefer basic citrus and spirits, as opposed to frilly fruit like mango or strawberry.  The selection of margaritas and mezcalritas is not extensive.  The selection of sipping spirits is extensive.

    The SERVICE was quite good.  Upon entering, you will encounter the hostess stand and can either be escorted to a table or make your way to the bar.  Our particular server was attentive, smiled and prompt.

    These older buildings are a gamble when it comes to the lavatory facilities.  This one is nice.

    As for the location, we did wander across the street to have the "one too many" that has clouded my memory this fine morning.

  8. The good was AMAZING! The mole Enchiladas were great! We ordered the Guacamole and chips – smallest portion ever – not really much to share! Great vibe and great looking restaurant! The he service was not the Best – we were left alone and when it came to pay & divide the check they were not happy! The food 5 stars! The portion 3 stars – the service 3 stars –
