  1. It's nothing fancy, but Miyako's sushi is always fresh and delicious. I absolutely love the chirashi (assorted sashimi, tamago, and shrimp over a bed of seasoned rice). It is a lot of food and can be shared by two people.

They also have excellent lunch specials (12 piece sashimi lunch with soup or salad for 12.95 or THREE rolls for 10.50!!). My favorite appetizers include oshinko (Japanese pickled veggies), age tofu (lightly fried tofu with sauce and fish flakes), and miso eggplant.

The waiters are always very friendly and attentive.

  2. Used to order delivery from this place a lot more than I should have.

Their service and dishes started out awesome and rapidly went downhill.  Food was pretty good until the last time I ordered and received halfway closed rolls, lukewarm food and a nasty attitude on the phone when addressing my displeasure. Good thing this was just an alternative to a local favorite.

I confirmed the dept of health rating and that put the last nail in the coffin. Never again!

  3. I ordered delivery and was pretty disappointed. Spicy tuna rolls weren't spicy, crunchy salmon rolls weren't crunchy. Everything was pretty bland and mushy and I'll avoid ordering delivery again from them.

  4. Hmm, i didnt really enjoyed the food, but the service was good

  5. Fastest delivery ever–it is Sunday eve, Easter Sunday…so factor that in…But, 4 rolls of sushi arrived in LESS THAN 15 MINUTES!!!

My friend and I ordered 2 teka maki rolls, & 2 Crunchy Salmon Rolls. Low sodium soy sauce.  Fresh & delicious, we both agreed.  See my photos.  I have not dined in the restaurant, but eventually I will.

  6. I like this place; drop in sometime.  They're not very busy in my experience and the food is good for the prices.  The interior is very low-key, but the people were friendly.  The miso soup was sub-par, but we ordered a gang of sushi and were happy with it.  Stop by if you want sushi and don't feel like dropping too much cash.

  7. Review for delivery.

I was pleasantly surprised! I've always found delivery sushi to be somewhat disappointing, perhaps because of the price vs. what I actually get. This is not the case with Miyako. We ordered two lunch specials at, what, $8 a pop, and our order arrived in a HUGE bag. I'm a pretty big eater, and there was so much food that I had enough chicken teriyaki to save for dinner (albeit a small dinner). And they threw in a seaweed salad for free! I also appreciated the fact that they packed the hot food and cold food (including our side order of sashimi) in different bags. Details like that make a huge difference.

The food didn't blow me away or anything, but it was very tasty and plentiful for the amount of money we paid for it. Miyako is now officially on the approved delivery list.

  8. Came here a few times for lunch. The prices are good, but the sushi leaves much to be desired. One time when I was there my friend ordered the white tuna and had issues with the fish. The fish was likely spoiled and my friend sent it back and received another order. This was on a Sunday which means the fish should still be fresh unlike Monday's which is known to be the worst day to eat fish at a restaurant.

The staff here is quite friendly and they will gladly separate your bill if you have a large party. One time the waiter gave each of us a separate check and we had a group of 12! That was a nice service touch and not something every NY restaurant is willing to do.

If you're in the neighborhood and are craving sushi, this place will fix your cure but I'd recommend taking the train down one express stop to Sushi Yasaka (@ 72nd). This place is a 2.5 star for me, but I feel bad giving it less than an official 3 since the staff is so damn nice
