I have to say I liked this place, with a relaxed feeling and attentive service. Price level was also attractive. However the food was only mediocre, probably I have ordered the wrong thing – oyako don. It was a bit lack of flavor and chicken meat was so dry that it almost fell off the egg. It seemed like their sushi combo was a good bargain so would probably give a try next time.
Not good. I've been a long time ago, and the quality went downhill. Would definitely not return
Super fresh sushi. Very simple decor and clean lines. Even has upstairs seating. This is a go to spot at lunch time or after work for an early dinner.
Wait staff is pleasant and attentive. Pretty quick turnaround so you don't have to wait long if there's a line.
They even have a dessert menu! Not all places near this busy shopping hub (Fifth Ave) do so it's nice that this does. Fried ice cream! Too bad I was too full to order it.
I ordered a la cart style on purpose to try out all my favorite pieces. Every piece was fresh and proportionally cut. The white tuna melted in my mouth! And I can't rave enough about the uni with quail egg (optional /$0.50 extra). Loved it surprisingly reasonably priced. I also enjoyed the scallop sashimi and fresh surf clams. On point!
There's lots of rolls to choose from. Price ranges from $4 – $16… so read carefully each description before choosing. You can likely find different variations of your favorite fish.

– Quaint little place we stumbled upon while leaving Beyond Sushi because they weren't what we thought. This place was very nice, service was excellent and the music choice was… interesting. Lol. They were playing like a Top 40, unedited so Nicki Minaj's Anaconda was playing and it was just very interesting given the place we were in. I had a Sunday Breakfast roll (salmon + cream cheese) ($7.00), a California roll ($5.00), Miso soup ($2.50) and steamed crab dumplings ($6.75). Everything was excellent. Definitely come here if you're in the area.
Business lunch with co-workers. Overall experience was good. Service was fast and on point. We got one of the big samplers for 3 and a rainbow roll plus edamame, and cold sake (not my choice, I prefer hot). The sushi, rolls, and sashimi were all good….probably 3 to 3.5 stars. I've had better elsewhere. It wasn't cold enough. The rice paper felt stale though the rice was good. I give 4 stars bc service was great. And the decor of the whole place is wonderful. Clean and fresh. Including the bathrooms. They're a busy place for lunch so they must be doing something right. It's a good place to try out of you're looking for a sushi place. Enjoy!
This place is hidden so to find it look hard on 56th. Came here with a bunch of coworkers we enjoyed ourselves and the sushi. I would have to say they need more staff to work both floors because the servers looked like they were running around without heads. All and all a good experience.
Great Japanese place in midtown. Highly recommend the rolls.
I had a wonderful dinner with a friend visiting from out of town.
We had four rolls to share and it was plenty for a light dinner. (see my picture for rolls)
1.) Spider roll: perfectly cooked soft shell crap. The roll was small and how i liked it. Sometimes spider rolls can be so huge and full of lettuce cucumbers. It makes it hard to eat in one bite 🙁
2.) Philadelphia roll: Different than other restaurants. Sushiya used tofu paper instead of seaweed. Its a different taste but very refreshing from the other rolls with seaweed.
3.) Yellowtail Scallion: So fresh!
4.) Spicy Scallop: my favorite by far. It was not too spicy and full of flavor
The prices were average for NYC
Will definitely be back for more of Yellowtail Scallion and Spicy Scallop roll!
