  1. —–About the food
I got the yellow tail with scallion hand roll which was delicious! It came with the general wasabi and ginger, to freshen your palate. I also had the roast duck ramen. Even though this isn't a ramen shop, I love this ramen when they make it right. It comes with a generous portion of noodles, three pieces of naruto, bean sprouts, scallions and duck. I went today and it came out warm. The duck skins where also pretty fatty but it's still a $8.50 well spent.

    —–About the service
They are very nice people and I haven't had a bad service here. Not much to say except tip well because they work hard at what they do.

  2. This is not a bad place for hanging out. Big menu, big portions, cheap price. The flavor is not great, of course, and I even feel some dishes really weird, like their salad with a sauce mixing Japanese dressing and ketchup. The broth of their miso soup also tastes strange. Their sashimi is much better though.

Their service is good but the waitress totally forgot the ice tea we ordered.

  3. I guess going from a sushi place that I loved, with good service, and high quality rolls/good portion sizes — and no longer delivers to my area — set the bar high. And this place fell short. Sure, the sashimi was 20 cents cheaper than where I normally get it from, but it's significantly thinner. It was fresh though, and I was pleased considering there were some reviews here questioning said freshness.

They didn't have my favorite Salmon avocado roll. So I got salmon, cucumber, avocado, and it was small, squished, and messy.

Shrimp tempura roll was super tiny compared to what I'm used to. And they added this sweet sauce on top of it, to the point where it drowned out any other flavor.

Spring rolls had zero filling, all fried dough.

It's very local, but not worth coming back if the quality is meh.

  4. It's been years since I've eaten from here. I have a go-to sushi spot. They're under new management and I don't like the changes they've made. So I'm kinda shopping around for a new go-to spot. Not too crazy about Tomo, so I tried this place for the first time in years. I ordered delivery: salmon mango, spicy tuna, and eel avocado rolls. My first observation was the pieces are tiny. U barely saw the salmon in the salmon mango roll, and also it was quite a pale color. I pray I won't get sick tonite. The eel in the avocado was barely visible. Spicy tuna for whatever reason had crunch in it. Not that I minded it was the most decent roll of all. So to sum up, very mediocre and will not make the cut for my go-to spot.

  5. Omg this place is busy! Well at least it was tonight- a cold Tuesday around 7ish. Maybe it was because the place is tiny but it was constantly loud & packed with people throughout my whole meal. I'm not complaining but thought I would note this in case you are looking for a quiet, calm sushi spot. Despite being crazy busy, service was prompt. Decent sushi menu with cheap prices! Definitely fulfilled my sushi craving!

  6. Minus one star because .. CHEAP PEOPLE RUNNING THE PLACE.

If a Chinese takeout can afford to give people hot sauce, so can a place like sushi island which specializes in Japanese and Thai food. The audacity to charge 50 cents for a small plate of hot sauce! Food isn't all that either. Drunken man noodle literally has close to nothing in it except for broccoli, poorly fried egg that's near nonexistent, and protein of choice. Sushi rolls are a-ok at best and sushi pieces are cut incredibly thin.

Only good thing about here is they have a parking lot.

  7. I hate downgrading a previous 5 star rating but I have to. Sushi Island disappointed us big time on my last visit and I'm afraid to say that it will literally be my last.

My usual agedashi tofu lacked everything I used to love about it. Bonito flakes wasn't there and the flavor isn't as good as it was. The sushi rice was horrible, the cuts of fish were paper thin. For a $1 per order I guess you get what you pay for.

Ugh. What a sad sad day.

  8. They have sushi specials for $1 a piece but they are terrible. The tuna I got was light pink in color. The salmon in the hand roll had a piece of bone in it, which meant they weren't even using sushi style fish.

I would give this place one star but at least the server was nice and kind.
