  1. Good food, great presentation and more the merrier!

MOMO is the type of restaurant that you can definitely have a lot of fun in if you come here with your family or a group of friends. As with many Hibachi restaurants, the presentation of cooking and sitting around the Hibachi grill is a huge part of the experience. I've been here a few times, but not in many years and a lot has changed inside. For one, the décor has improved and a bar has been added right when you enter the restaurant.

In my most recent experience, I came with my girlfriend's family and we had a good ol' Hibachi time. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, sushi and different combos that included a combination of salmon, lobster, chicken teriyaki, etc. After seeing the presentation at a different table, I was excited for what we had in store.

Our Hibachi chef came out shortly after we ordered and the show began! He did many things that either impressed … or scared our table … but mostly impressed. The chef twirled his cookware, created a giant flame on the grill (which felt like it burned my earbrows right off), created a volcano out of 3 onion rings, made a heart shape out of fried rice – including making the heart beat which was really cool and also tossed food at us to catch with our mouths. It was quite a start to our meal and got us all sitting on the edge of our seats! After all the fun and games, he really went to work and tossed, sliced and diced his way into making our meal efficiently. My main meal was the lobster and salmon combo with chicken fried rice. The fried rice and food was a bit on the salty side, but that was to be expected since the chef drowned our food in soy sauce. Who couldn't see that coming? Nevertheless, the lobster and salmon were very well cooked and tasted extremely fresh. The chicken fried rice was cooked very well too. There was a bit of a shortage of chicken in the fried rice, but the rice was still good.

Besides the chefs playing a large role in the customer experience, it really depends on your party too. If you're there to have a good time, then you'll definitely enjoy the presentation and art of hibachi cooking and have a brand new appreciation of it like me!

  2. I really enjoyed Momo's.

The staff is very friendly and professional. The manager was very engaging and ensured that the entire group was comfortable.

I started with the seaweed salad  – delicious
    Miso soup – on point

Hibachi presentation – very nice and funny

    Main entrees:
    Shrimp and scallop – delicious
    lobster and shrimp – delicious
    Rib eye – delicious

Atmosphere – very live and cool with a diverse crowd. I would definitely be back again.

  3. Very nice atmosphere, great service, and delicious hibachi. Probably the best place for a great dinner experience in the Emmons avenue area

  4. I have been craving hibachi, and coincidentally my sister decided to have her family birthday dinner at this hibachi restaurant. It was my first time there; it was a Tuesday night so it was practically empty. We were a party of 9 adults and two small children. The food was good and the entertainment was medicore.

I ordered the t-bone steak for $25 (plus $3 for a side of fried noodles). The steak was tender and juicy as the waiter described. Like other hibachi restautants, the meal also came with mixed vegetables,  white rice and two pieces of shrimp.

Our cook was nice and funny, but I don't think his act was unique. Perhaps it is because I've been to a handful of hibachi restaurants,  so the act gets repeatative. Compared to other hibachi cooks I've seen, he didn't juggle or throw/catch things in the air, which I enjoy watching.

The other staff was friendly too. They took a keepsake Polaroid of the birthday girl. They also gave my niece a pair of kiddie chopsticks,  which I thought was very nice of them.

  5. I love this place!!!! The price is right, the food is solid, and the service is good! I've been here twice and it never disappoints. Even on a busy Saturday night the wait is never longer than 15 minutes considering most places in the area have longer waits.

It's great for all parties, couples, families, and larger parties. It's a great place for celebrating birthdays too and on any given night you can be prepared to see someone getting serenaded with a happy birthday.

What really keeps me coming back is the food. It's all made right in front of you with few ingredients. You can actually see what's going in your food. The fried rice is delicious and you have your choice of proteins and veggies. They also have the option of brown rice if your looking to be extra healthy… But I suggest the fried rice it's just so much better.

The hibachi chefs also do a great job of keeping you entertained as they make your food. They turn onions into a steaming volcano, piss rice vinegar onto the hot hibachi grill and make you catch zucchini pieces with your mouth… Say Ahhh and enjoy!

  6. My Bday dinner was yummy. This Hibachi spot is good. And the drinks are strong! So we had some drinks at the bar the proceeded to sit. The entertainment was good, the staff is super friendly(they let us hit the drums). Our table had Sake and variety of food all consisting of surf and turf. The Steak was good JUICY and cooked as ordered(medium).  They do serve a lot of food. Our Chef(don't remember his name) was funny. Overall we had fun and its nice to try other Hibachi places. The prices are $$$ but worth it.

  7. I've been coming to Momo for years with no regrets . The location is conveniently by emmons avenue with plenty of parking and a beautiful view . It is very easy to get reservations . The renovation post sandy is  very nice , elegant and inviting , I truly love the traditional Japanese decor. There are over 10 tables which are usually shared but it's spaced out so it doesn't feel too crowded . I love the four course meal with salad , onion soup, your main entree and desert . The chefs here are funny and entertaining , they really engage with the diners and they are generous in portions, they will always give you extra stuff even if it's not something you ordered . Every single meat I've tried here from the chicken to steak is flavored perfectly and high quality . They always give you great dipping sauces to compliment the meat you order. they also give shrimp automatically to majority of the orders which start at 18 for single meat and 24 and up for combo dishes . The fried rice is soo addicting but they charge you 2 bucks extra for it , or 3 for brown rice substitute . Some places don't charge to fry the rice so I'm not crazy about that . The best part about this place is their delivery for this meal is just as good as dining in, minus the fact that you miss out on the great entertainment . What you don't want to miss out on is the great sake menu , tons of stuff to choose from I honestly lost track. I also love their fried deserts such as the fried ice cream tempura . I haven't tried the sushi or appetizers here so stay tuned or another review 😉

  8. This place is great. The atmosphere is perfect for families, the staff is a sweet, and the food is delish. A bit pricey but I would def eat here again. I had salmon hibachi with white rice, shrimp, and vegetables. Everything was seasoned so well plus the cook was hilarious.
