  1. If you know me then you know I'm a big fan of middle eastern cuisine. Yesterday a few coworkers and myself decided to give Rose's a try and we were not dissapointed.

Rose's offers a pretty good lunch special offering platters, wraps and pita sandwiches ranging from prices of $6.50- $11.50. I decided on the shish kabab platter which is char grilled beef on a skewer marinated in a special sauce and is served with rice, salad and hummus. The meat was seasoned perfectly and was extremely tender, hummus was smooth and delicious with pita bread, and the rice was pretty good too. We also decided to order a large fattoush salad for everyone to share and an order of falafel. The fattoush salad wasn't anything special to me but the falafel were very good and had a nice texture to them, crunchy outside with soft center. I really enjoyed the tiziki  sauce that they served with the kabobs, I liked it so much I used that as a dipping sauce for the falafel instead of the tahini.

I thought the portion of the food they provided for lunch was just enough to fill my belly and not leave me overly stuffed. I look forward to ordering from Rose's again!

  2. If you like garlic and butter then chances are you enjoy Lebanese food and don't even know it (…p.s. Yelp, add Lebanese as a category of restaurant please.) this is what I discovered this past Saturday at the newly opened Rose's of Englewood.

Must tries include the eggplant in garlic and the "shish tawook" which is a chicken that has been marinated in olive oil for so long it has practically become a sauce. You can get this as part of the mixed grill and eat meat until you feel like you are about to explode. The pita bread (flown in from Montreal of all places) is also delicious.

Nearly everything is made on site, so don't go to Rose's for a quick meal, but rather prepare to order many appetizers and sit back and relax. Next time I think I'm not going to fuss around and go straight for the appetizer platter (which you can order for 2 for $24, or for 4 or 6 people for more money.) Oh and there most certainly will be a next time!

I hope that over time the ambiance and decor of Rose's can grow to match the warmth and friendliness found in the food and the staff. In the meantime two out of three ain't bad, as they say, and who hasn't had some bare walls immediately after moving to a new place?

    Oh, and FYI, it's BYOB.

  3. Hands down the best Middle eastern restaurant in NJ( this would be in the top 15 in Dearborn, Michigan).  I do like the location of this place , there is tons of a space here for sitting large groups(came here with a group of 11) or even dinner for two. The decor is pretty decent. The service here is great.

On to what makes this place 4.5 stars?( I know you see 4)

    The Food. Entrees first
The Shish Tawook is always so tender yet cooked all the way through. Grilled to perfection. I could just order this the rest of life or maybe not (I do need a dose of Hot Spices every now and then)
The Kafta here is great, I would only want to add some hot spices into the kafta that's cause of my taste buds are addicted to Paki/Indian/Persian flavors.
The Shish Kabob ,I am not a fan of this dish in general but the flavors  here are just on pointtt, I mean the juices mixed in rice provide great flavor.
The Kibbeh is cooked perfection. Just the right amount of spices. I have never had good Kibbeh in NJ….tells you a lot. This should always be served with Garlic Sauce…lately they bring it out with yogurt which I'm not a fan of.( I believe one should always be asked if they want certain food on their tables, otherwise it is a waste of food)
Btw the Garlic sauce here is amazing, yes it's not good for a date, and maybe you wanna avoid a date for a few days after but man it makes everything delicious.
    The Rice is great.
    The Futtosh is awesome here.
Hummus always taste fresh and one of a kind(this is not that Sabra crap).
    Fries are good.
    Lentil soup is awesome.
Zaater bread is a little overcooked for my liking, I feel the bread should be softer.

    Even the presentation rocks here

This restaurant is a true jewel, best part is the owner made this a chain and I can say this location is my favorite but Food Quality is great  all these locations.

If you do venture out to Rose's of Englewood just go with the mixed grill and it will give you enough to share and a great selection ! Check out the pics.
