  1. Came here for dinner the other week with my bf. We ordered fish tacos and nachos with chicken.
The nachos were a generous portion..I was pretty full… but sadly I thought the fish tacos and the nachos tasted bland…something was missing. I even put the sauce on top…but still lacked flavor..
    Don't think I will be back…

  2. Happy the second location of this wonderful Mexican spot is on the west side. Not only that, but there's actually enough seating for a group or two if it's too cold for take out.

Straight forward menu behind the bar, so settled on the regular nachos ($11) and an Elote ($4). Nachos are MASSIVE. I know in the original location, it's densely packed into a to-go box. This time it's served in a catering pan, spread out but equally large. Tried my best not to mess it up on the way home. A bit of the ingredients are strewn about, yet when they come together on a chip, it's glorious. The elote is a bit burnt, though still flavorful.

Service is fast and the food is always good. Personally, the meat nachos are better than the regular cheese. Definitely a place to keep trying more things, will be back.

  3. Taqueria Diana is a perfect example of why the burrito making should be left to the west coasters. Since leaving the Bay, I have done extensive research into the best burrito in New York City. So imagine my surprise when I bite into the lauded Taqueria Diana burrito expecting to be instantly transported to the Mission District in SF, only to bite into a big lie.

I wanted to like this burrito – from the adorable storefront, the delightful employees and the beautiful tequila collection at the bar – I wanted Taqueria Diana to be my regular texmex place. Unfortunately my first bite was of the rubbery and bland tortilla and honestly to my aghast the next bite was of an equally bland carne asada and guacamole (can I even call unseasoned mashed avocados guacamole?). But out of all of this, I think the most unpalatable feature of this burrito was the cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love cheese. How the cheese in this burrito melted and ended up tasting creamy and sweet is beyond me. I felt like I was chewing on some mixture of buttercream and melted cheese which is not something I want in a burrito.

    Long story short, disappointing burritos.

  4. walk in, its cool spacious with lots of seating. not cramped, hot and up against the kitchen like the one downtown.

the service was super cheery and nice. i noticed can beers are $2.50 and bottles are $3.50 – tecate pacifico dos equis negro modelo. wow. and the lady told me its going to be that way even when they open the bar, which she said is happening tmrw, april 2nd.

they have 4 kinds of salsa i tried them all and they were all really unique and flavorful. i liked spicy and mild the best, and i chowed down on some chips (which are thick and oily and only a dollar for a pile!) and drizzled it on the tacos.

but the tacos, the main event, have room for improvement. the tortilla was thick and somewhat dry. the steak wasnt really flavorful, bordering on chewy. the condiments add some life. the chicken taco was better, it had a great aftertaste in my mouth. no lie, i was about to give this place a 4, the chicken taco saved it. the sum of the other parts outweigh these easily fixable issues with the tacos. and i hate being a dick about these things, thats not the kind of yelp elite i wanna be.

i will definitely be back, order smarter and enjoy the rare culturally relevant spot in my neighborhood.

UPDATE: I actually went the very next day because juddy was hungry and who isnt down for cheap drinks. the food was good, but the service was incredibly disorganized at the bar. Like, I have never been to a bar so poorly staffed. and there's only like 5 people sitting there. granted, its like, day 1, its a new bar, so hopefully they've figured their shit out. but yes, i took a star off for it. because i frankly dont think its that complicated to pay attention to such a small group of people – esp if one person is just sitting there drinking water, so 4 people. i couldnt get their attention for the simplest thing – to buy more alcohol…aka more money for the business. the other people are just sitting on their ass for like 15 minutes (this is literal, not an exaggeration) waiting to get an order in. if you dont have your shit together, dont open the bar. postpone it, do a dry run. figure it out first. dont leave your customers to sit in agony while you figure out how the touchscreen works. also, i ordered a mezcal and asked for orange slices, and i got a very condescending attitude. like yes, you believe its best with nothing on it. great. so say it politely. i know you know better, thats why you're a bartender, but am i allowed to have a preference? am i allowed to have it my way, since im paying for it, and this is a service industry? i order it with oranges because my friend, who lives in mexico city, straight up, says thats the secret. and its a fucking delicious secret. its just bad vibrations from the service, and im not digging it.

  5. Yay to a new taco joint opening up in Hells Kitchen! We came here a couple days after it opened and I had the carne asada tacos with a side of guacamole. The tacos are pretty pricey here but they are loaded with meat!

The only con would be that the food didn't taste that fresh-it wasn't hot and maybe that's because there wasn't a high turnover? The tortillas weren't soft, either. Hope it'll be better next time!

Oh and, there's tons of sauces to choose from which is nice!

  6. Hypes:
    – Tortillas – Fresh, Homeade, and not doubled. Definitely homemade
    – Tacos – They are all good. The meat is tender, sauces on top are juicy, and onions are crunchy
    – Guacamole – creamy and flavorful – not just a mashed avocado – its mixed well
    – Chips – Get the chips! Fried, fresh, a little salty, a lot of crispy

Disclaimer : based on an Uber eats order

  7. I stopped by Taqueria Diana the other day on the way home from work. The menu is broken down into burritos, tacos, salads and plates to which you can add other things [carne asada, guacamole, spicy pork, vegetables, etc. I got the baja style fish tacos [2] which came on a platter on a fresh corn tortilla with battered fish, avocado aioli and piled high with cabbage slaw. They were delicious. The wait staff was very pleasant, there is ample seating and the prices are reasonable. I would recommend and return.
