  1. I wanted to like this place more.  I really did.  I took my mom here because it seemed right up her alley.  First of all, the service does suck.  I won't say we had the worst waitress I've ever had, but wasn't good.  Second of all, we were there at 2pm on a Thursday and they said the lunch specials they posted on the door were not good at that time. 2pm. Thursday.  Okkkkkkkay.

The margs were okay, but not $11-$13 okay.  My mom got the $7 one, which was FINE, but it just felt cheap.  The burritos were good- they were HUGE.  My boyfriend's Red Hook Special was the best of the bunch for sure.  And I didn't see the bill, but it was some $88 for 3 burritos and 3 margaritas.  I don't even know how that is possible??

I probably won't be back.  I wouldn't say never, but there are just better options.

  2. Menu totally downsized, all drinks served in plastic cups, guac and all entrees over salted. What happened?  Also delivery took 4 hours once so we ate dinner at 1030 PM.  Way better taco places in the same area.  Plus I get indigestion EVERY time

  3. Maybe it was because I was new to the neighborhood and wasn't really aware of what other options were out there — but I was initially in LOVE with this place, but after venturing out, I've come across more authentic Mexican restaurants to fulfill my burrito cravings.

The portions here though are huge (maybe even worth packing half your burrito for another meal). The chips and guac are on point and they have a variety of different drinks as well. It can get pretty busy during lunch and dinner hours, but the wait usually is never that bad.

If you haven't been here, it's not a bad place to come after work with a friend or co-worker for a quick bite and a beer.

  4. Both times I've come here, it was with big groups. That's because Rachel's Taqueria is pretty perfect for big groups. Don't let the front fool you, there's a huge seating area in the back. The portions are also pretty ridiculous, so I have found myself stuffed every time–but that might be just because we eat way too many of those addictively delicious chips & salsa they give you in the beginning!
My friend and I split the giant California burrito–it was massive, and it was awesome. What surprised me? The ribs. They were actually pretty delicious, tender, and fall off the bone.  The beans? Good. The rice? GOOD. I was a little disappointed with the Quesdilla–which ended up just being a tortilla wrap folded over, with all the fillings disproportionally shoved into one side. So cutting this amongst your friends is difficult and not to mention awkward, what with one of you getting 3 shrimps, and the other getting 1.
Try to steer clear in the winter however, because the back seating area is indoors, but not very well insulated. That meant our group of 8 was sitting back there, shivering with all of our puffy jackets on, while trying to eat tacos. Not a pretty sight.

  5. Came here on a rainy day with some friends, around lunchtime. The margaritas are solid and make you feel wonderfully warm inside, despite their being deathly frozen. The guacamole was alright – definitely not fresh – the avocados were slightly browned and tomatoes a little mushy. The chips here are very thick, much like a tortilla that has literally been fried. Salsa is alright, not the freshest and pretty sweet. Had 2 veggie tacos – corn and mushroom. Again, not fresh, but the mixed hard/soft shell is awesome. One big complaint i have is that there was a piece of beef in my corn/veggie taco, which I don't appreciate at all, being a vegetarian, so be wary of that. Mushroom was alright, tasted like a pre-made mixture. It's not terrible food, but I have had better, especially for the price (tacos were almost $5 a piece), and the guacamole wasn't cheap for the lack of freshness. For the neighborhood, you can find better options.

  6. This is one of my favorite Mexican spots in the neighborhood, but apparently it is also everyone else's because it definitely gets crowded on a weekend at prime time, so there will be a wait and they do not take reservations. It is a fun, lively (read: loud) atmosphere. There is a back space that was once outdoors but now has a roof. I love the veggie enchiladas with green sauce. Coconut margaritas were a bit sweet, but that didn't seem to stop me from having 3, and not cheap at around $11. Guac for the table is good but they will automatically give you salsa and chips.

  7. Okay I was super excited to try this place but the service is horrible and I got a stomach virus. I was sick for 48hours from eating the steak and shrimp. I will never eat here again.

  8. Good:
Unfortunately, did not try any food but margaritas were very good. Only $7 each but after 3 I was pretty tipsy! HA!
    Service was ok

    Bad:
Ordered corn, and it was pretty bad
