  1. Ive eaten at this location and their Huntington location and have to say if you are looking to grab Persian//Mediterranean food.. You have to go to Ravagh's. You will not regret it. My go to is the babaganoosh, the barge, and you have to grab the chicken and steak kebab.. Perfect portions to share but if you're a glutton for deliciousness.. Its the right size. Check them out!

  2. Came back and brought the whole family for a weeknight dinner and everyone learned how good Persian food can be! We made reservations because the last Saturday night we went it was packed but weeknights, obviously are less crowded. We were seated immediately after arriving and served fresh pita with yogurt sauce and the green spicy sauce.

We ordered everything at once; two appetizers, the cooked eggplant called kashk and the hummus because I tried the babaganoosh last time I was here. The hummus was great but everyone at the table was fighting over the kashk, it was that good especially soaking up the pita.

Along with our bottle of red wine, moderately priced, we ordered four entrees kebobs. We ordered the chicken sultani, the chicken shish, the barg and the lamb shish. I had the chicken shish and couldn't have been more satisfied. The chicken strip in the sultani was a little dry but everything else was amazing. You can get vegetables or fries instead of the rice with all the kebobs which is a great alternative.

Be prepared to be fed great food with equally amazing service. Also be warned, you will leave with food to bring home. I have been here twice and no one has been able to finish the delicious food.

  3. My friend invited me out here to try it out. I must say this place is really good. We sat down in the restaurant and it was crowded on a Saturday night. They brought out pita bread with two different sauces. I couldn't stop eating it and I knew I had to stop since I ordered the chicken kebab. The portions are huge. I could eat only half of my kebab and rice. The rice was so good. Good thing is you can take away the food if you can't finish it. I'll definitely come back.

  4. Persian Diner Convert

Before visiting Ravagh Persian Grill I have never tried Persian cuisine. Needless to say I've become a fan. The food (at least from the kebabs I tried) were downright delicious. This is coming from a guy who had just finished eating a large meal at a wedding less than 2 hours earlier.

The chicken kebab is a heavy dose of juicy slightly spiced chicken which a normal human barely be able by itself let alone with a large pile of rice, onions and tomatoes along with it. Everything is just right. I made sure to cut off the charred parts of the onion and ate it with the chicken to add a little charcoal flavor to go with the food (which I enjoy).
Most important is the buttery rice that melts in your mouth as the rest sits on your large plate in a huge mound of goodness waiting to be devoured (and it was).

The restaurant itself is larger than it appears (at least from the outside). It is very open and makes it easy for everyone to walk through the aisles without bumping into servers, chairs or another other obstacles. It has a completely opposite feel to a typical restaurant in the city that tries to utilize the space as much as possible. The two large skylights over the main dining area add to the relaxation and comfort you feel dinging here.

The iced tea, while not too sweet is refreshing.

    Overall: 4 Stars
Portions are very generous for the prices ($14-$22 for 1-2 skewers depending on the meats).
The food isn't the most beautifully presented, but when it's that good who cares.
The restaurant gets relatively crowded past 7:00pm so I recommend making a reservation to shorten the wait time on weekends.
Parking can be complicated during the dinner rush due to a smaller sized parking lot.
Décor is nice, simple and relaxing. The lighting in the larger dining area is amazing since there are two skylights.
Ravagh was my first experience with Persian cuisine and I highly recommend this restaurant for all those interested in trying it out for the first time or those who just enjoy Persian food.

  5. Always wanted to try the food here and after a long time overdue I've tried it and it was delicious! The gentleman at the bar who took my takeout order was super nice so happy to see good friendly service. I ordered the chicken kobideh and it was delish! Fresh and just seasoned right. Definitely coming back!

  6. What to say. The food is absolutely delicious. I don't think there is a better Persian food restaurant on Long Island.

I had to bump them 2 stars because the service was severely lacking.  I went as a party of 4 for Mother's Day lunch but only around 3pm so we wouldn't hit peak lunch time.  We were seated within a couple of minutes but at a table that clearly shouldn't have been there. We felt like we were sitting by the door, like illegitimate patrons. Anyways, we were only asked for our order and given menus after 10-15 mins. When we finally made our order, we only got our food after 45 MINUTES. It was clear that they didn't know how to handle logistics. They had a super long line for takeout and other seated patrons were also waiting. We almost left had it not been for our sheer starvation at that point. We didn't have the energy to leave.  We also didn't receive one of our orders and was charged for it–we, of course, asked for it to be removed and it was.

If there is anything you should take from this review, order for takeout here but don't dine here. But even still, be prepared to wait for more than 30 mins.

  7. My husband brought home some food from here each time he had a meeting with his friend here. I like the rice from here! Long grain with herbs and some nuts and healthy. So finally I got to visit the restaurant. Hubby and I came here for lunch on President's Day, the day after Valentine's Day so we could celebrate with my mother-in-law. I ordered trout and mommy ordered salmon and hubby ordered some meat kebab style. We had some eggplant appetizer prior to our entrees. We had a blast because the food was so much better at the table than having it to go. One of the best Mediterranean style restaurants I've tried. Mediterranean style, hmmm… it's a new diet that seems healthier than most and causes people to start thinking if they want to live over 100 years old and look younger. Don't believe me? Google it! The ambiance is super pleasant and intimate, cathedral ceiling in the dining area. The waiter? They had one at the time but I hope they have more at night time. We were the first guests so I had a chance to take some pictures with no one around it, and then the place started to get more and more people. At the end of our meal, hubby's friend came to the restaurant to say hello. He ordered some appetizers: stuffed pepper and fried dumplings. Gosh, those were good too. I tried a piece. Surely crowded at night. I enjoyed my meal, my time, the place. Recommended!

  8. I have a soft spot for Middle Eastern kebab places so I had to try this one out.  Located right off the LIE, it would be easy to miss this place.  The menu is standard for a Middle Eastern grill with all kinds of kebabs (kofta, barg, jojeh, salmon) to go with warm pita bread and fragrant rice.

Lamb shank was ok but a bit too much cinnamon for my taste.  Kids really loved their kofta and barg but in general all the kebabs were tender and juicy.  Good choice if you're craving something like this in the area.  Solid 3.5 stars.
