  1. Moving from California, I had a hard time finding Persian Cuisine in NY (specially in Queens), until I discovered Miraj on Yelp. Wow! This place is amazing! The service and food is spot on. They offer various authentic Persian dishes to choose from. The place is also pretty big, which you don't notice at first.

I normally go with the traditional Koobideh (ground beef skewer) or Lamb Chop dishes at Persian restaurants and have tried both from here. The meats are definitely soft and flavorful, though I would prefer the Koobideh to be a bit more juicy. The prices are also fairly decent and a bit lower compared to Ravagh Grill yelp.com/biz/ravagh-pers… (another Persian restaurant located nearby).

Though onne major setback about this place is that they don't accept credit cards so you have to make sure you have cash handy if you plan on coming out here. Parking is usually not an issue around the area. The place also serves Halal meat (but be sure to ask based on what you order).

With all that being said, I'd definitely recommend checking out Miraj to satisfy your Persian cuisine cravings!

  2. Excellent dining experience at this relatively small restaurant specialized in Mediterranean &  Middle Eastern delicacies.  Every dish that came out of the kitchen was simply delicious.  I need to mention the Saffron rice with raisins and currants was just ridiculous.  I have never tasted anything quite like it! The hummus was so fresh as well.  As my group arrived for this weekday feast,  we saw them wheeling in ingredients right through the front entrance to the back including bags of onions and boxes of tomatoes.  To me that's a good sign that they are using freshly sourced product.  They also offer a early bird special that on paper looks like a great value.  Oh, also be warned the green hot sauce they put out is Fiery!  I look forward to visiting their other location in Hicksville.

  3. How am I just trying this place?! Good food for an even better price.

I got the Chicken Barg dinner plate and it was so sooo good! It came with your choice of rice/grilled vegetables and salad/french fries. The chicken was juicy beyond belief and so well-seasoned – dip it in with their special green sauce and yogurt and you're golden! You would think that at $14 they would skimp out on their portions but there is enough for 2 meals!

Next time I want to go back during lunch for their $10 special!

  4. Was not a fan of this Williston Park Persian place.  Started out ok with passable sambuseh that was filled with chick peas and herbs.  Slightly greasy but still flavorful.  The cornish hens in special rice was nothing special and rather bland.  The beef stew with tomato and eggplant was completely flavorless.  The interior is in need of a major face lift.  I thought the ceiling was going to collapse on us from all the visible water damage.  Service is slow, cold and unfriendly.  Prices are fairly low but note that it's cash only.  I do not recommend this place.

  5. The food was great here.  The atmosphere was nice.  You can tell that it is a good restaurant because all people from Afganistan were there.  I had the chicken shish kebab with basmati rice.  The chicken was juicy and not dry.  The service was great.  The BYOB policy is great.

  6. We were in Long Island to buy a rug and were starving. Decided to give this little restaurant a shot and so glad we did! Food and service was very good. I had the fish kabob with albaloo rice – yummm!! Lucky those who live/work nearby.

  7. I came here with my sister after the movies nearby. I did a quick search for "kebobs" on the trusty yelp app pointed this place out. As soon as we walked in, it felt like everyone stopped and stared. It was quite busy for dinner service. We walked towards the back where the register is located. I ordered the #27 for us to share but to take out. The #27 is a combo of the ground meat kebob and lamb meat with rice, salad, and pita. The owner/boss guy repeated you want the combination?. I repeated yes, the #27. He places the order in the kitchen. After 5 mintues, I insist on paying before the food comes out and he rang up the combination platter for $36. I was like no way dude! I ordered the #27 which is around $16 with tax. He gives me this 'I hate you' look and said I agreed to the combination platter. I said yes the #27 is a combo dish. Anyways, he straightened everything out and 10 minutes later, we got what I wanted out the door.

We were hungry so I didn't get a chance to take a pic. The meats were cooked well and seasoned perfectly. The rice was fluffy and the green salsa/picante sauce was awesome with the meats. My cousin made dumplings at their house. That didn't go well with the sauce though. The white sauce was just ok but I'm comparing to the white sauce from 'the Halal guys'.

Although, we got off to a bad start by catching him trying to up-sell me. The food was good and worth another try. I recommend only take-out as the atmosphere is trashy. The TV is blasting Iranian music videos and has waiters are in dress shirts. But, if that's what you like then here you go! I can't correlate a lamb and rice place with cloth napkins.   And minus 1 star for being cash only.

  8. I want to like this place so much more than I do! A mile from my house a Turkish small place with pretty good food. Had the chicken Baraj thing and guest had some beef which was flavorful and tender.

Worst service I have ever had. We were seated immediately which is great but next to the only other non Turkish looking table directly by the door. Every time the door opens a giant draft and when we came was only 3 tables taken. Within 20 min line out the door on a Saturday night. The waiter actually saw 5 other tables before he came to us who were all seated after us. We were ready to order and kept trying to get his attention but he went to the Turkish dinners before us.

We did the pick three on the apps: spinach, ground eggplant (gross and mushy!) order the panir as the third which I was taught is cheese.. What we got was a mint salad, undressed with the smallest slice of cheese I have ever seen! Rip off!

Decent food but if I ever eat here again it will
Be a pick up order to go
