  1. Went here to grab a bite to eat for lunch on a weekday. It is a little off the beaten path, so there were only a couple of other people already eating inside when I arrived.

After reading about some of the food online, I decided to go with the al pastor burrito. Though the burrito took a long time to come out–around 15/20 mins–it was definitely worth the wait.

First off, it came with a little side salad of lettuce, cucumber, and avocado–which was a nice touch. The burrito itself was absolutely massive. And it wasn't just crammed full of rice and beans, it also had a hearty helping of meat. Though the meat was not as spicy as advertised, it had great flavor and paired well with the sweetness of the pineapple.

Overall, I have to say I was a bit wary of the B health rating on the door, but I can safely say that this is one of the best burritos I have had so far in NYC and is worth checking out if you're around the area.

  2. Go…Don't go.

I worked in a taqueria in Berkeley for $5.50 / hr while attending Berkeley. I thought what better way to get to speak spanish and eat for free. Taqueria Pippo is really, really, real….

The chicken torta is like a Mexican bahn mi without the obvious liver influence. The sandwich was cold and I kept searching for that liver flavor wasn't really nice and was oddly undetectable. Beyond my palate. $7. Not my thing.

El pastor burrito was life altering. Honestly, it is amazing and just so much food. The pork and pineapple sweetness. The tortilla is appropriately charred. The filling is all about meat, beans and rice. They put the avocado, lettuce and salsa as garnish. The salsa verde and salsa rojo is always too hot. Delivery is prompt. They don't do online or seamless so you have to call, but it is worth it. $7

if you order chips on the side, it will be a long conversation. Chips a lado o chips nacho. Chips nacho or chips con salsa. It was very confusing but it always turns out great. Delivery is ridiculously prompt and friendly. Great people and great food. Only four stars because it is just mexican take-out.

  3. I pretty much live in Harlem on the weekends and this is my spot! I don't check in nearly as much as I should, but assure you, this is my spot!

This isn't the best Mexican I've had, but I did grow up in California, so my standards are quite high. For NYC, I like them! I usually come here when hungover or still drunk from the night before. The food is good enough to go down, even on my nauseous days.

What I love most in the world is pork fat and here, they hook me up with the pork fat! Whether I'm ordering tacos or tortas, when I request for extra pork fat, they give it to me. I don't even have to ask anymore, they already know what's up, regardless of what I'm ordering. Love that! Love them!

  4. Right around the corner from my school and they provide fast service!!!  Workers are really nice there and are patient to explain things on the menu.  I ordered tostadas (fried flat tortilla-think open face hard tacos) al pastor-pork with pineapples.  An order comes with 3 for $10 bucks.  Fresh ingredients with a great taste.  Can't go wrong!  Try try try!!!

  5. Really tasty tacos and they came up pretty quickly. Good tomatillo salsa too.

  6. Arrived on a Sunday evening to watch the Mexico vs Jamaica in the Gold Cup. Was surprised to see no one else in the whole place.

A group of 7 of us ordered burritos and drinks, and were sadly disappointed.  The waitresses begrudgingly took our orders and brought us waters only when we asked.

The two women behind the counter never once refilled our waters, and were literally just hanging out the whole time. When my friend asked them (in Spanish) for his drink, one girl actually rolled her eyes.

Another friend's strawberry milkshake came during the middle of the meal, when it was ordered when we sat down.

The chips were not refilled, and the burritos did not match the picture. It said it came with beans and rice on the side, but they arrived with beans and rice in the burrito instead. No one asked how they were.

The al pastor was great, but the pork was so fatty, I kept pulling grey pieces of gristle from my plate.

For only $7, I do think it's a good deal for take out. Would not return.
