  1. Tony Colombo's is a delicious Italian restaurant that I wish I had discovered sooner. My best friend, Justine found this restaurant by a word of mouth recommendation & then we read the reviews & perused the menu. We knew we had to try it for her mother's birthday! The service was very good but the food was the best part of the overall dining experience. Since there were so many of us, we ordered a variety of things & shared with each other family style. The meatballs are completely as described in countless Yelp reviews & a must have. The Short Rib Ravioli was divine with a perfectly reduced wine demi glaze. The Eggplant Rollatini had spinach in it & I really thought that it was a nice addition. The Seafood Risotto was delicious & the seafood was cooked to perfection, but the creamy sauce does make the dish a tad on the heavy side. My two favorite dishes we ordered though we're by far the Pappardelle with ground beef & pork & the Gnocchi with spinach & chicken in a cream sauce. The gnocchi is seriously the best I have ever had anywhere & they truly were pillows of heaven we all exclaimed as we were eating them! Also, if you like sangria, their red sangria is very good. The prices are reasonable, the ambiance is lovely, & the valet in front is accommodating. I highly recommend this place to anyone, & I would definitely have to say that this is a great restaurant for a date.

  2. I've been weary of going to Tony Colombo's because I wasn't that impressed with the previous tenant, Cielo.

When we arrived, we were pleasantly greeted and were asked to choose whichever table we wanted!
We're easy so we picked a 2 person table against the wall.

We were served bread with a trio of olive oil, tomato sauce, and ricotta cheese.
There's a diverse selection on the menu from traditional Italian fare to unique, modernized dishes.
My friend and I shared the crispy artichoke which was not what I expected (in a good way). The meat inside was tender, but the shell was super crispy.
I also had the Pappardelle Bolognese. It was delicious! A huge portion too.
Prices are not cheap, but on par with the portion size.

I would definitely return when I get a the craving for Italian food!

  3. This was me during my entire visit…WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW
I must have been so annoying but I love everything about Tony Colombos.  The ambiance is awesome, the staff is awesome.  They have Valet Parking (it was a Friday night, not sure about the other nights) and they have coat check!  It has a very upbeat energy, it seemed like every table was having fun and laughing.  It was loud but not too loud.

We had the best server, I am so mad I didn't get his name because he was so sweet and gave such amazing descriptions of the food.  He was really young and it's great to see someone at that age be excited about food.  I let him pick out my entree because I don't eat meat and he hooked me up.  I had the homemade gnocchi and it was so light and truly an experience.    I can't remember ever having Gnocchi that was so light, it came with fresh spinach in an alfredo sauce.  One of my friends had the Filet of Sole and let me try it….delicious (it may have been a special).   Another friend had the Papardelle Bolognese and said it was great.  They also make the Paradelle fresh.

The server informed us that they have an on-site baker and the desserts were amazing.  I had the Heath Bar Pie Cake (I have no idea what it was actually called) which came hot with ice cream and the other people at the table shared the Lava Cake.

  4. The Quick: Very good Italian food, Big portions, solid waitstaff, and great private room for a small/medium party. Very charming, overall a treat.

The Details: To start, the restaurant is trendy yet charming with beautiful exposed brick and one of my personal favorite Italian icons on the wall ("everything you see I owe to spaghetti"). The food was delicious. We had everything family-style so I was able to try the rice balls (family favorite), the mussels, the calamari, penne alla vodka, etc. The chicken Colombos was very tasty with a generous portion of mashed potatoes. Quality Italian food; I would return.

Pro Tip: Parking is in the back and shared with a few other restaurants. If you see a spot take it.

The Damage: Unclear on pricing since it was a big event. Doesn't seem overly expensive for quantity and quality.

  5. Came here tonight with a friend and we had an amazing time. We started with the crispy artichokes and the braised short rib ragu over polenta, both were perfect! She had the pork chop with bruschetta which was cooked nice and juicy with a balsamic reduction which was nice and sweet against the fresh mozzarella. I had the mixed seafood over linguini with white wine sauce with was absolutely delicious but my shrimp were a tad over cooked. We washed it all down with a nice bottle of Pinot noir and finished it off with creme brûlée and and apple crumb a la mode. This is one of the better restaurants in RVC and definitely worth trying.

  6. One word summary: Meh.

But Vinny, 'meh' isn't an adjective.

    Today it is, my friend.

Meal started off very well.  Nice decor complete with Sophia Loren wall art.
    Very nice Super Tuscan wine.
Hot Antipasti was a nice assortment.  Baked clams, shrimp oreganata, fried artichoke, meat riceball, eggplant rolatini, what else could a couple'a Italians wish for eh!?

    Now for entrees.

I ordered the beef bracciole served over cavatelli.
Two of my favorite Sunday staples growing up in my yoot.
PS – It's pronounced BRA-J'ALL and GUV-A-DEAL if you ever come to my Nana's house.

Now I could chalk this up to the fact that my family set the bar pretty high on both of these dishes.  But this wasn't good.  Totally flavorless sauce.  And it's pretty damn impossible for a piece of pan seared beef rolled with cheese, garlic, nuts, raisins, and seasoning to be bland, but somehow they succeeded.

Also, when a guest's glass is nine tenths empty and the server walks by, not offering you another beverage; that really gets to me.  Don't wait until it's empty and the meal is over to see if I'd like more wine.  No thanks.  I'll have another glass when I get home.

So in closing, with so many Italian joints in the vicinity, I left with no sense of urgency to return.

    Or, in other words: Meh.

  7. Made a reservation for 8:30pm for 2 people. We were running a little late that I called and asked if closer to 9pm would be ok. Gentleman on the phone was very sweet and accommodating and said no problem. We arrived and were greeted by a friendly waitress with warm bread and oil.

I judge places on how they make my go-to drink, a French Martini as I do not like it too sweet/pineappley. Bartender made it perfectly! My friend had a glass of Cab and enjoyed it.

We started with the fried calamari. Sauce was delicious and nice and crispy.

I had the Rigatoni alla vodka with grilled chicken. The dish was GIGANTIC! My friend had the Gnocci pasta with chicken. We couldn't even put a dent into our meals. The sauces were creamy and so fresh! Ugh, my mouth is still watering.

A gentleman, I'm not sure if a manger or chef, was walking around. We were trying to pace ourselves and had our forks down that he came over and asked "does everything taste ok? are you alright?" While we were just so stuffed already that no, absolutely nothing was wrong we were in heaven! But its the small gestures of management, like to notice we had full plates and not eating, for him to check to make sure we were satisfied. We really appreciated it!

For dessert my friend had a Chocolate Martini, very strong and yummy! And we tried the Chocolate Walnut Caramel alla mode pie with vanilla gelato. WOW SO FREAKIN GOOD!! We were licking the plate!

Bill came out to roughly $125 with the tip. Food was absolutely delicious and the place is very nice – white table clothes, dim lighting.

    Will definitely be back!
