Love the outdoor seating for lunch. Lunch was pricey but very good. Their dinner pasta deals are a great value. Dinner was fabulous but we lost the waiter by the end of the meal. This is not your typical hotel restaurant. This is a true Italian restaurant. Don't forget to take home you bread baked fresh!
I was here on Easter Sunday last weekend for 11:30 for what I thought was brunch… I've been here for Christmas Eve dinner last year and I remember it being good…. This time however, I was a bit disappointed… For one I thought that since it was 11:30 there would at least be a few breakfast foods to choose from but nope! Not one! They had food that I would eat for dinner at 8PM. Like veal, chicken, salmon, sole, pastas in thick cream sauce… Granted everything I had was good, nothing to rave about but good… I was just annoyed that they would have a slot that early with no breakfast food!!! At that point in the day I'm not ready to eat salmon in a creamy dill sauce…. Weird…. My family really enjoyed it but I guess I just really wanted a waffle or an omelet… Ugh oh well… Andddd it was astronomically expensive for having no bacon and eggs I think it was almost $50 a person…
I think this is the better of all the calandra restaurants. Food is reliably good and service, although a little rushed, is also good. I just wish they would dim the lights in the dining room. The lights are so bright that you can't help it but be reminded that you are eating in a hotel lobby. No ambiance.
Stayed at this hotel while in town on business and was initially skeptical of any restaurant inside a mid-priced hotel. I went to the bar on a Tuesday for a drink, but when I saw the food my neighbors were eating I had to order something. One word – delicious. Don't skimp when you're here, get what you're hungry for and then order dessert. The raspberry chocolate tart is to die for, I ate the whole thing even though I was stuffed. The wine selection is great for an Italian place but the beer list could use some expansion. Overall fantastic experience.
I've been to two events here. Both were in the back room with a buffet lunch.
The building/restaurant appears to be brand new; everything is clean and beautiful. High ceilings, piano, beautiful bar area. Has a very sophisticated feel.
They may be doing your typical Italian staples but they do them perfectly. The mozzarella tastes like it was made minutes ago. The bow tie pesto cream pasta was heaven. Their bread which is what started the Calandra's empire is fantastic; as expected.
The cake for both parties was made by their bakery I was told. Perfect cake with the exception that it was missing the fresh fruit the second time around.
I plan to come back and just have dinner in the restaurant one day. I also enjoyed their outdoor patio area this past time when the weather was warm.
Great service, food and overall experience.
One of my family's go-to spots in NJ. The food is pretty good and we love the live piano player. I would recommend their fish and their wine–both are good quality. The pastas are decent. I only tried the pizza once, but I didn't like it. The service is very friendly and you can take home a giant loaf of fresh bread at the end of the meal. Who can resist?!
I can here with a group of people. It is in the hotel. The ambiance is beautiful. It was right before Christmas so they had a tree up, Christmas lights and huge wreaths on the walls. A very classy looking place with a piano and a small bar when you first walk in.
The bread served at the table was warm, doughy and tasted great. We all split the creamy pesto pasta (delicious!), rice balls, bruschetta, fried calamari (yum!) and Caesar salad (one of the best I've had) as starters.
For the main course I ordered the chicken with bruschetta on top (wasn't crazy about it). We had a fixed menu so that was one of the few options available.
We split a bunch of Italian pastries for dessert – all of which were good but nothing amazing.
I'd definitely come back!
Wow, very impressed with this place. It's absolutely beautiful when you walk in, with high ceilings, cozy fireplace and overall charming feel. The service was great too.
Every table has a bottle of delicious extra virgin olive oil. They give you fresh Parmesan cheese to put on your oil plate, along with yummy olives. I ordered the house salad and it was super fresh, but I didn't love the dressing. It was a tad sweet and had a spice in it that I couldn't figure out. My main meal was the Chicken Balsamico and it ROCKED! The chicken was tender and the sauteed peppers and onions were so delicious. I would defintely recmmend that!
Only negative side is that it is a tad expensive. I will definitely by coming back here asap!
