  1. I was in Sacuaucus Plaza, and I smelled Chicharones, which are Pork Belly and are fired or baked depending on what Hispanic country you are from.  And I notice that a new Noches De Columbia that was under construction and open early, Some of the staff was being trained at the same time. I told them I smelled Chicharones from the outside and the guy laughed saying that I was the second person telling them the same thing and that the venting was not working right.

I asked for takeout because I was not planning for a sit down meal yet. The Chicharones looked a little dry from over backing them, but they where perfect just like I like. The meat moist and soft and the pork skin was crispy. Plus they satisfied my taste bubs.  They serve them with some flat corm meal biscuit that compliments the meat and slice lemon and a two sauces I also picked up some mini beef empanina, that you have to buy 10, 🙁  and a chorizo to try it out.

The funny part was I was on my way for my denial checkup, but I kelp nibbling on the food every Stop sign or red light. By the time I got to the dentist, I had to skip on the cleaning because I was scared of being embarrassed with flying bits of meat going around.

The Chicharones get 5 stars but empanina, and chorizothe were 3 stars. I will check out there other items like Tostones or Maduros next time.

P.S. A shout out to my BFF Leo M, for sending some luck my way and letting me score another Tri-Yelp-fecta  ;-()

  2. The food was quite good as was the service. The maracuya sangria was INCREDIBLE. The lose a star for two reasons:

    1. Their chorizo was a far cry from what you would get in Colombia. It tasted like Kilbasa sausage.

    2. Their beans were good, but compared to any of the beans I ate in Colombia on my many trips and hundreds of meals there they were sad. Eating Colombian beans is a near religious experience and these beans did not leave me wanting more.

The ground beef used was very good and clearly ground in house. Everything else was as good if not better than what I was expecting.

Next time I know to avoid the chorizo and not expect much out of the beans. But I definitely won't mind returning.

  3. Not terrible but also not the best.

Prices are a few bucks higher than my favorite Colombian spot (located in Bergen County).
The food took long to come out, and it wasn't crowded.  It also took forever to get the check at the end of the meal.
Not bad if you are in the area but I won't be making any special trips to Noches anytime soon.
