  1. Got delivery while hanging at my friend Louise P.'s house.  Not very authentic but decent, inexpensive Mexican and huge portions.  The taco trio meal was gigantic without any sides.  I wish they put a little cheese on top though.

  2. Friendly staff. A great place to sit in the back to relax, chow down with decent size portions. The Mexican food here is tasty (pork tacos were so tender!!)

Not the best place for classic Latin food.

Excellent for large groups. The restaurant is semi-loud so be prepared for this. Excellent lighting.

  3. Great local neighborhood Mexican restaurant. The outside place is a nice place to sip a margarita on a summer evening.
I thoroughly enjoyed my beef burrito topped with cheese, sour cream and guacamole. The beef was shredded (not ground) and thoroughly seasoned.
I resisted devouring it all somehow and got to enjoy the second part the next day. I love getting two meals out of one great meal!
Looking forward to more summer evenings on the patio.

  4. Elora's is a decent place for the neighborhood.  I like going there so I can have a margarita with my food, but when you have it delivered, the experience is more real and by more real, I mean less good.

On the plus side, the portions are generous.  We had delivery the other night and the b/f had carnitas and I had the Chilaquiles  and neither one of us could finish the plate…mine because it was too much and his because he didn't like it.  They tend to go heavy on the cheese, which generally I like since I used to live in Wisconsin (go Packers!) but my dish was overdosed in cheese.    The food was okay but not particularly flavorful or well spiced.  Also, my dish was served with that orange looking rice, and I'd much rather have white rice.  Orange rice looks unnatural to me, like seeing Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise kissing.

When I go there, I usually get the chimichanga, which is usually good.

So, my recommendation, don't get delivery from this place (unless you're mixing bad-a** margaritas at home, in which case invite me over for a party) but instead go there, grab a drink and enjoy the food on-site.

  5. Good Mexican food.

Came here for dinner and enjoyed it. The service was friendly and very attentive:

    Drinks:
    Pina Coladas: Great

    Apps:
Shrimp Quesadilla: the shrimp was really good but the sauce on the shrimp tasted weird. It wasn't bad but wasn't really sure what it was and wouldn't really want it again.
Maduros: cooked perfectly nice and soft.

Entree: Tried the chicken enchiladas. The portion was huge! I was literally stuffed and definitely satisfied after eating this meal.

Not going to note this as one of my favorite places but if your in the area I would recommend and they cater to large groups with additional seating in the back!

  6. Elora's literally never ever fails. Anytime I come here, no matter what I get I am always happy and satisfied. I came on a Sunday for brunch and they really offer a great brunch special. For $20 per person you can an entree and unlimited drinks for 1.5 hours and they have soooooo many options to choose for the brunch options, they don't skimp out at all. The unlimited drinks consist of your regular champagne or mimosas, but than they also offer different flavored margaritas, and they're quick with the refills, and that's one of the main things i look for when going to brunch LOL. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer (which wasn't a part of the brunch special) and the nachos were delicious, the guac on them was awesome. For my entree I got the chicken enchiladas, UGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH amazing. I literally love there food.  They offer the brunch from 11-4pm
And they're pretty strict with the 1.5 hours and ending brunch by 4pm, so be there with enough time to get your money's worth.
The restaurant is small but they have a big space in the back to accommodate bigger groups. The staff is really friendly and helpful. This is a regular spot for me to get Spanish food. Oh and Farrell's is right down the block.

  7. Cheap,(I want to say)fast, authentic Mexican food. Friendly servers. I ordered the guac and chips. It was kinda thick for my taste. I had to smash it. I also ordered a margarita. It was super duper strong. I drank a full cup of water to simmer down the burning sensation. I didn't like it, nor did I finished it. The best part about it was that she didn't charge it. Therefore it gets three stars.

  8. Elora's is still a good local place to get your Mexican/Spanish food fix. I know people always whine about "not being able to get good Mexican food in New York", but I have some skepticism about that opinion.

warm weather means they expand to have outdoor seating, but the inside (there is a back room too!) is pretty spacious too. prime time to hit it up is by 6 PM.

I went with the chilaquiles. tortilla chips, some chicken, a mix of green salsa, cheese, tomatillo sauce, cilantro, onion, and a little sour cream, with a side dish of rice and beans. in short, it's like the slightly classier cousin of nachos.

of course, we all sampled a bit of each others' dinners. my dad had the pollo lemone, which was a simple but tasty sauteed chicken dish in a white wine/lemon juice/garlic sauce. my mom had this one dish, the brocheta combinada, which was chicken, shrimp, and beef over rice, pineapple, and vegetables. the portion was pretty damn epic. it had this red-brown sauce on top which really hit the spot, almost like a poblano mole sauce.

sadly, our cousin Fat Mike was not eating here last night to send some sangria our way (this actually happened once), but I guess it's a rough economy, even for guys with descriptive nicknames such as Fat Mike.
