This is an amazing little restaurant that I was introduced to by my boyfriends mother a few years ago.. from the first bite I was hooked and have been coming back for special occasions. Every meal I've had here has been phenomenal and I have never left disappointed what so ever. Tonight we came to celebrate the engagement of Joe and Karissa we figured where better to take them than Dino's.
We came in for our 7:30 reservations and was seated rite away at a beautiful table in a dim lit room, very romantic ambiance. The waiter came up rite away and informed us about the specials they had that evening along with the sangria specials that were offered. I ordered the white sangria with pineapple and mango infusion and my friend Karissa ordered the red sangria with mixed berries, my boyfriend ordered a captain and coke, Joe a Sam Adams, and my girl Lynne with the grey goose martini straight up with a twist. The sangria was very refreshing and delicious and I really enjoyed the marinated mango and pineapple slices that were in my drink. They brought out fresh bread along with herbed butter, spicy oil, and rosemary oil for dipping.
As we looked over the menu I realized they didn't have the clams oreganata on the appetizer menu WHY DINO WHY =( Those clams have been my favorite for so long but its ok I'm sure they will be back. For appetizers we started out with two orders of the meatless eggplant balls OMG do not pass up on the opportunity to eat these! The consistency of the eggplant really mimic the taste and feel of a normal meat ball and it had a piece of oozy mozzarella cheese stuck rite in the middle. We also ordered the little neck clams and pei mussels in white wine, garlic and tomato broth, the clams and mussels were the perfect size and very tender. We ordered the calamari that was perfectly crispy and served with marinara and tartar sauce really delicious.
For dinner I ordered the filet special that was served with a red wine reduction sauce, asparagus, and potato au gratin. It was the best filet I have ever had and I love my steaks. My boyfriend and his best friend ordered the chicken parmigiana that was served with spaghetti. The piece of chicken looked a little too think for my liking but they seemed to have no complaints. Karissa ordered the gnocchi that was served in a basil scented marinara sauce. Lynne ordered the scallop dish that was served with seared scallops topped with sun dried black mission fig pure and an apricot sauce, she loved it. Everything about our meals was fantastic and I think its really nice that Dino comes around and makes sure your meal was to your liking, it shows he takes great pride in his work.
When it came time for dessert I was too stuffed but I must say it was very hard to say no to those little almond donuts served with chocolate sauce. I guess I'll just have to come back again and try them out.
