  1. I do takeout/delivery regularly.  The lean beef barbacoa burrito is pretty awesome. Tex turkey is really flavorful but tends to be greasy and ratio of meat to rice kinda sux .  My big issue with this place is the fact that they do not wrap the burritos in foil they put it in a plastic container (which retains no heat) and they slice it in half so it's cold by the time you are gonna eat it.. The guac and blue chips are a great deal, they give you a nice 5oz guac for $4.95 (Multigrain chips meh..). Great flavor and portions but plan on having to reheat your food. Would give 4 stars if I didn't have to nuke my food every time. So 3 it be.

  2. Went to my gym class and decided to get something light around the neighborhood for a quick dinner so i decided to stop by here. I was attracted by their lean and healthy eats menu. Not sure if it is always like this but it seems like they were a bit understaffed…i ordered a smoothie and soup but it took them more than 20 minutes for me to get my order..the staff were nice tho the guy apologize to me for the long wait. it was also dinner time so understandable.

    The white corn pozole was pretty blend. not a lot of flavor to it and relatively small for a big bowl. $5.50 and came with a very small portion of tortilla chips..basically just chicken strips and corns in there. did not stood out to me.
    The smoothie was good tho and pretty big for a small order $6.50.

    Maybe il give it a try again but overall it did not leave a great impression on me.

  3. This place does healthy Mexican food right! I was a bit skeptical of how tasty the food would be.  I've been disappointed in other healthy places where the food sounds good in theory but ends up being bland as cardboard. I was extremely hungry when I came in and decided to go with the tilapia burrito, the combination of beans,rice, cheese and avocado sounded pretty good. Since this is a healthy place I was not sure what to expect in terms of portion sizes, once our food came out I saw that the portions were pretty big. my burrito was stuffed full of yummy rice, tilapia and nice sized chunks of avocado. The tilapia was lightly seasoned and all of the flavors blended well together. I don't usually like big portions but it was so tasty that I was able to finish my entire burrito. my favorite part of my visit here was the super friendly guy behind the counter. He was friendly, helpful and  just seemed to be happy with his job. The space was pretty clean and the prices were very reasonable considering the portions.

    everything is made the "healthy" way, or as healthy as a cheese enchilada can get. fatty things were substituted with whole grain, low fat, blue corn chips, tofu, cactus, etc. lots of vegetarian options.
    i got 2 huevos tacos for $6 and they were decently sized and pretty good. my boyfriend got the super nachos with chicken for $10-13 and ate the entire thing. he kept asking for refried beans and pico de gallo and the guy at the register said that the nachos came with both and they came with neither ):

  5. I've always walked past this place all the time but was never compelled to try it and I'm so angry at myself it took so long for me to go!  I finally went last night after the gym and wow! The whole concept of this place is healthy mexican food.  I was glad a tried the double protein burrito.  It comes with steak, chicken, cheese, black beans, guac, and quinoa all in a whole wheat tortilla.  First, to actually be healthy, you will need to portion control and eat only half the burrito since the whole is huge!  The meat was both juicy and tender, and i never thought to have quinoa in a burrito, but it adds a real nice texture to the whole thing!  I ended up microwaving the second half for lunch today and its still just as good the next day.  

    This place is now going to be my go to dinner spot after a working out at my gym around the corner!

  6. I'm honestly only giving this three stars because the food was really good, even after showing up an hour late. However, the delivery man was over an hour late. I had to call TWICE to ask about my food–first after it was 40 minutes late, then another 20 minutes later. Unacceptable. But, the food arrived still warm and pretty flavorful, and the price is reasonable.

  7. I think it's a little depressing here just because oftentimes there's no one in here except for the delivery people sitting at the tables. I understand that it's the perfect type of food for delivery or take-out. However, the ambience of eating here is not great even though they do try to make it modern, bright, and clean.

    The menu on the flatscreens toward the back of the place where the counter is changes to different portions of the menu, so you have to grab a paper one in order to know the full selection. It would probably be easier to just have static screens.

    In any case, the schtick here seems to be healthy Mexican food, with avocados, quinoa, brown rice, wheat tortillas. It does this partially, but the ingredients themselves taste a bit bland, especially the avocado, which clearly wasn't hand mashed.

    1. Posole soup: This was basically salty soup with scraps of chicken breast and some chick peas. Definitely not very authentic tasting. I've had real posole in SoCal, and this is nothing in comparison. It's also $4 for a small cup.

    2. Double Protein Burrito: This was actually huge! And pretty good! It was freshly made and grilled with quinoa and avocado. The meat was probably newly grilled but a bit too salty.

    3. Avocado Quinoa salad: I took this to go, but it looked decent! Large slices of avocado.

  8. Ooooh I like this place! Honestly I never thought that healthy and Mexican food could go together. Like everyone else said, this place really surprised me! My friends and I were starving but didn't want to eat anything too heavy or unhealthy. Lo and behold, Al Horno pops up on Yelp!

    I ordered the Chipotle Steak burrito. I love how they use whole wheat tortillas in their food. They were very generous with the steak, and in comparison to Chipotle I was far more satisfied. Everything in my burrito was delicious and had its special place — from the guacamole to the chipotle sauce.

    It was empty when we went in, it seems that the majority of their business is through take-out and delivery. Didn't matter to us, more space to pig out!

    Next time I'll be sure to try out their large juice and smoothie menu. I've got my eyes on the chia seed one!
