This place is great. My friend and I stumbled through the door late one afternoon and were promptly seated at a nicely decorated table. The walls here are adorned with images and relics of Mexico; piñatas hang from the ceiling and flag banners stretch from wall to wall. The owner and his staff are a lively, attentive crew.
We had two cervezas and two shots of mezcal. The chips and salsa were much to our liking. Though we didn't order food, we found much to enjoy in the festive atmosphere as the sun set out the windows. I would love to come back.
This restaurant is a little gem hiding next to a gas station on Queens Blvd! We had the tacos rancheros (steak) and pollo quesadillas (chicken) for two and it was enough to feed three. Everything was fresh, filling, and authentic. Service was great as well – our waitress/hostess was sweet and attentive. Prices are very very reasonable, cheap if you consider the quality and quantity of food. Items typically range from $9-12 each.
The decor really transports you back to a time when you are enjoying the simple pleasures of life, like food and family. Place is clean, even their bathrooms, and unique with a rustic and vintage feel. The Q60 bus also runs along Queens Blvd so if you're craving for a cozy and delicious Mexican meal, take the bus here or park a few blocks south.
And yes, they do accept credit cards!
Nice atmosphere. Pretty clean too. I love that they have a salsa bar and your choices of hot sauce and sour cream. Your standard mexican tasting food but its great because it's 24 hrs! Also reasonably priced!
As the other reviews mention, this place is really something else when it comes to the decor. Not outlandish, but not your typical Mexican restaurant. Has a great home feel to it though, yet ornamental enough to feel you've walked into another world.
We began with some sangria and grapefruit Jarritos. Ordered the Hacienda nachos which looked amazing. Tasted great as well, with a faint kick.
Then began our meal with two different entrees, which in my opinion kind of tasted similar though were still delicious nonetheless. My girlfriend ordered the Chilaquiles and I ordered the enchiladas Guadalajara. We both ordered steak and with green sauce.
We wrapped up the dinner with some churros that came with a side of ice cream and what it tasted like strawberry syrup. In my opinion, that really sealed the deal for us. It was a perfect match of warm and crispy with cold and creamy. What a dessert to end the night.
Overall the service was amazing, our waitress was extremely attentive, and stop by our table just the right amount of times, ensuring we were doing okay without nagging. Interestingly though, we were the only two in the restaurant from about 730 to 9. it felt great to have the whole place to ourselves, along with some candle light at other tables.
Love the food, great service, and would definitely love to come back another night. I'm a big fan of Mexican food and this definitely seems worth another visit along with some more adventurous selections on my part.
$1 tacos! $1 tacos!
This place only just opened around the holidays with much fanfare in the form of flashing lights and blasting music showcasing the wagon atop the establishment (seriously!). Finally went to check it out tonight (Sunday) at around 7:30. It didn't seem busy at all. Inside has lots of fun decorations and seating is cafeteria style with big wooden tables and chairs.
They were out of chicken so I was more or less limited to 3 types of pork. Ordered 2 carnitas and 2 pastor. Service was much slower than you'd expect for $1 tacos next to a gas station, took about 10 minutes for the order. The tacos are wrapped up plain with just the meat of your choice and then there's a toppings bar by the register with little to go cups. Unfortunately it wasn't well stocked, though maybe that's just because it was a slow night and they didn't want to waste.
I didn't get any, but they have plenty of Mexican beers including some I've never seen before, plus Heineken? (random) The staff seem like good people, very friendly and helpful. The girl at the register was taking phone orders so they also might deliver, not sure.
The tacos themselves are actually really good. We were happy! Keep the toppings bar better stocked and I would bump them up to 4, even with the wait. They're $1 tacos after all! Pretty tasty and satisfying dinner for ~$5.
Considering its food, location, and service, this restaurant is pretty good. However, comparing to other Mexican places in this area, I think their price is higher, and their portion of food is smaller. The taste of food (ordered soup and quesadilla) is quite authentic though.
