230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

“Loving the Santa robes and hot drinks

They have heated lamps and just enjoying the views.”

“One thing I didn't like instead of having a glass wall around the roof, they had a wall of foliage obstructing some of the view.”

“Lots of biz professionals, trust fund babies, and gold-digging beauties, but also LOTS OF TOURISTS and of course regular people like myself.”

  1. Super touristy and crowded bar but with a nice view of the empire state building.

Drinks were mediocre and tasted more like sugary water with a hint of alcohol

  2. Beautiful ambiance, strong drinks, decent food, and trendy crowd. This is a great place to go to for brunch or happy hour after work. The rooftop has an amazing view of the city!

I've never been here for the nightlife, but I heard the music is good and it's a fun crowd. I've also heard in the winter that they have a heated rooftop, and they give you robes with hoods to wear while on the roof. Don't quote me on that, but that's a cool concept if that's the case.

  3. Awful club. Overpriced drinks, shabby decor, don't go there. Period. Waiters are inattentive and air headed. Watched the manager kick someone out because he looked middle eastern. Terrible. Long story short stay away, unless you want to go to a dirty, run down, dated and overpriced club.

Update 2: I politely asked the owner to remove my name in the below comments. I did not do the things he is accusing me of, and he said he would only remove my name if I remove my review. Again – this unprofessional behavior truly speaks to the standards at this club.

Update: The owner contacted me and asked for the waiter's name. I see he is also accusing me of some things in a comment below. Here was my response to the manager. Seems unprofessional that he made a public comment before speaking to me directly.

"I do not remember the name of my waiter. My major issue was with the way they kicked out a man for looking middle eastern. He was standing on a bench taking a photo with his wife, as they had just gotten married and wanted a photo with the empire state building in the background. The manager yelled at him to get off, and he politely did so. I heard the manager say, "his friend can stay, but he has to go. I don't like the look of him." He was the only ethnic looking man in the group and the only one kicked out. I then watched your bouncers man handle him, despite them all being peaceful about the situation. One larger female bouncer grabbed a girl and slammed her against a wall for no reason. She was objecting to her friend's treatment, but was not threatening.  It was uncalled for and discriminatory. It made me uncomfortable, and I left the club because of it.  I'm making sure to tell all my friends not to attend your club, due to it's discrimination and your bouncers' tendency to overreact to a situation."

  4. Great view.. really the only good part of this place.  Great great view.

The drinks are expensive.. they lack top shelf liquor.. the quality is mediocre at best.

too many snooty wannabe i-banker or consultants.. yawn.

  5. The view on this rooftop is outstanding and should be the main reason you find yourself here. I'm a fan of the whole layout, it's pretty nice – rooftop as well as inside area but obviously you should spend your time on the rooftop.
The music inside is loud but not blaring in your ear (for dancing) and then normal outside so you can still enjoy it but not have to shout to have a conversation.
Drink prices are absurdly expensive but I GUESS that is not unexpected. At least the bartenders don't keep you waiting.
The cocky, relentless but seemingly attractive financial crowd permeate this establishment as well. Ugh.
And tourists/people from out of town, too? But that wasn't apparent to me.

  6. I popped into this place on accident.  Saw a bunch of people going into the building so I followed and come to find out it went to an awesome roof top bar.  I stood at the bar and we had a server who was friendly, funny, and quick.  I'm not sure why the 3 stars.  Possibly because it can be confusing.  Right when we walked out to the deck there was a long line.  We thought we'd have to wait at this line but ended up walking around to the bar to the left and had a blast.    They may want to add a text message system to their waiting line so people can be at the bar drinking vs. standing in a line.

  7. The one really great thing about this place is the view! Otherwise there is nothing that you can't find at another bar for much cheaper.
The prices are unreal; $9 for a bottled beer??? I don't even pay that much for the whole six pack. The other cocktails were pretty tasty but also really expensive. I was with a larger group of people and we just wanted a little something to hold over our appetite so we ordered a few things which were all pretty good. We were also here because it was the start of 4th of July weekend and it was a beautiful Friday night.
Besides the view and two drink max, I wouldn't put this on my list of places to revisit.

  8. Easily one of the most impressive rooftops to take your visiting friends or family. As long as you are dressed appropriately and not insanely drunk, there is usually no hassle getting in, which is almost never the case for NY clubs. This rooftop has the best views of iconic buildings in New York and is perfect for tourists.
