  1. Had a great time here for girls night!

Since I had a yelp account, when I checked in an offer for free banana taquitos popped up. HOW AWESOME… no seriously the taquitos were awesome. And they gave me a free full order, they did not skimp..my friends were thankful for my yelping!

The ladies and I had a few drinks, which were pretty good. I also ordered a beef burrito, which was incredibly filling. It had a lot of meat in it. But it was super yummy. Came with a side of tasty guacamole and sour cream. The restaurant is in a great location, but the good food is enough to make us come back!

  2. Came here with the roomies for happy hour. Loved the hole in the wall feel and sat up at the bar. For $5 during happy hour you have a choice of margs, well drinks, wine and/ or beer.

Complementary chips and salsa are great, super fresh and the salsa has a great kick too it. Everything tasted homemade. My roommates ordered chicken and beef fajitas and a chicken fajita salad. The portions were very generous and food was flavorful.

Not only was the bartender friendly, he even offered to split our checks, love it!!!!

  3. El Azteca sits in the middle block off on 9th Avenue.  We came here for a late luncheon, and while they were almost closing, our very nice waitress was extremely very kind to sit us, take our order, and even provided us with their best margaritas!!  Woo-woot!

What I like about El Azteca was how they cooked each of our meal fresh. While it may have been a bit of a wait for us, we did not mind because we were too busy admiring their drinks and their hot homemade chips that they kept bringing out to our table.  One dish I would defiintely order again is their steak quesadilla.  It was grilled nicely and very flavorful.

Thank you El Ateca for your awesome service and for keeping your doors open for us so that our team can have a nice luncheon in the heart of Manhattan!

    Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

  4. Service is very nice and atmosphere is festive.  Definitely feels like a real neighborhood place.  Margaritas are huge, though nothing super special.  Food is descent. Come for the love.  Three and half stars!

  5. The four of us sat at the bar, and we were lucky to get the last seats. The restaurant overall is pretty small but nice. The servers and bartenders were great, very friendly. I even ordered a new drink, spicy mango something with Patron. It was pretty good. I would definitely go back.

  6. I usually judge a Mexican place by how well they make their guacamole. It's probably not a very fair process but I feel like if you can't make something as simple as guacamole right, then there's a good chance that the rest of the food might not be that great either.

I had a taco salad with shredded chicken. It comes with a dollop of guacamole. The guacamole tasted like those pre-made ones that you would find at the supermarket. The tortilla shell that the salad came in was bogged down with grease. I had one piece and couldn't eat any more of it. Other than that, it was just your average salad. Nothing to write home about.

They have happy hour until 7. $5 beers, house wines, mixed drinks, and small frozen margaritas. It's $7 if you want a medium, and +$1.50 if you want to add flavoring. I'm normally not a huge fan of margaritas since tequila has been the death of me many, many times, but this one was pretty good. Not overly sweet with the flavoring. I would recommend the pineapple. But stay away from the strawberry – it tastes like you're drinking strawberry syrup.

Tip – check in for free banana taquitos for dessert. They're rolled up tortillas with a banana filling, then fried, and drizzled with honey and whipped cream.

  7. GIANT portions. I ate 1/4 of my burrito and was full to capacity. Mojitos were delicious. I stayed away from the brightly dyed tortilla chips. Divey but colorful atmosphere.

  8. Really enjoyed happy hour here last night (Wednesday). $5 margaritas, beer and wine are great and the free salsa and chips are actually good! I had the fajitas which was a healthy portion and we tried the taco salad as well which was good. The decor is lacking a little but service was very good.
