Came here for an event that was a brunch buffet. There was nothing that really made me say wow. Food was average. Certianly nothing special. The bacon was really really greasy. The only breakfast item I had were the cheese blintzes. I did not enjoy them.
As for the lunch items, The pasta at the pasta station was overcooked and mushy. Sauces were bland. I tried the ham from the carving station and it was like rubber. I did like the chicken franchaise.
There was a table with cheese and salads. The cheeses were very good, but the caesar salad was soggy. There were also some other cold salads, but I passed on them.
The decor was ok. Pretty simple table settings for this event. They put pitchers of orange juice on the tables, but not water, so I had to hunt down wait staff for refills of water. I thought they could have put pitchers on the table for water.
Desserts were also ok. Mediocre Italian pastries.
Staff was pleasant.
I came here for an all-day staff conference. Since I don't know what it costs I can't comment on the value. Classic continental breakfast was okay- fruit, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea – nothing out of the ordinary. Lunch had a nice variety – steak, sausage, chicken, eggplant, potatoes, rice, vegetables, bread, and salad – a solid spread. Dessert was lackluster cookies (but probably a package deal.) The wait staff was polite and attentive. Unfortunately seating was cramped (an issue with the set up) and the chairs were so unstable I felt like I was going to break one (I am a size 2 – need I say more?). My biggest gripe was the following: I work full time and am nursing my baby. Staff lead me to a very cold bridal suite to pump, commented how cold it was, and left me there (mid-December with no heat and an a.c. In the window – really?!?!) This made for an uncomfortable experience (in both the morning and afternoon) that affected my supply. A unique issue, perhaps, but one I am unable to overlook since it greatly effected my day overall.
I came here on Christmas Eve. I really didn't enjoy this place, BUT they did make a kick ass filet mignon. I think the thing that put me off most was the awful service. Our waiter had zero personality and not accommodating when we had questions. They gave me a DINKY salad for $10. There was no value on the plate, just leaves of lettuce. The bread was OK. My meal was good, but everyone else thought their food was Meh.
I didn't know that I had such a great restaurant close to my house. Last night for dinner after trying another 2 places where the waiting time was over 50 minutes we stopped here. We were sitter right away and the place looks really nice. Very elegant , with live music, really nice staff and amazing food.
It's a bit pricey but it was amaziiing! I tried lobster ravioli – made there with cheese sauce and before that oysters – that were fresh and tasty.
A great place to have a fancy dinner with boyfriend or family. I know I'll take my family here next month when the will come and visit 🙂
I had my wedding at Stony Hill Inn last June, and I must admit everything was perfect. The staff was very attentive to all of our needs, as well as, the needs to all of our guests. The food was delicious, and the food served for large parties is just as good as the food served in the restaurant.
I've also dined at the restaurant for a number of different occasions, and have been to various other parties at the Stony Hill Inn. Everything is always very delicious, and dining at the Stony Hill is always an enjoyable experience. I will definitely be dining there again in the future.
When engaging in a dining experience at the Stony Hill at times you may feel like you are the only people in the restaurant, as it is intimate, and usually quiet int he dining room.
The grounds are very well kept. The house is beautiful, and the outdoor area has been updated with fire pits for an enjoyable ambiance. The outdoor area is a great place to relax and come for a drink.
Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience at Stony Hill Inn. The decor is nice – it felt like I was dining at a country club, which makes sense given that it seems it is a popular place for banquets and weddings.
I was a bit annoyed with the fact that the dining area was nearly empty, but my party of four was forced to be seated at a cramped table in the corner. There was a much larger table that could have seated 6 in the middle, but they refused our request to sit there. Throughout the entire time from the time we were seated to the time they closed, nobody sat at that table.
Overall, the food was pretty good. Given the generous portions, the price was fair. I ordered the chicken marsala and it was good. Chicken was not dry, the marsala sauce was flavorful – overall a very nice meal.
The service was very attentive. It was not surprising since it seemed that not many people were there for dinner. I found more people in the bar area than the dining area.
If you're looking for a nice meal out in the area, this is a decent place to go.
I've been here a few times and I've never been disappointed, the food is very consistent. The last time I went here and sat at the bar with my parents. The bartender, Paul, was very attentive. We ordered the lobster ravioli, a fish special and a crab and corn salad. Everything was excellent. The vibe of the restaurant is very upscale, they do weddings, valet, etc. and the inside of the restaurant looks very late 1800s, but I've dressed fairly casual and never felt out of place. I would definitely go back here. More of an older crowed/family crowd, not really a young date place, but definitely a great place to go for an anniversary, mom's birthday or just a family dinner.
