   This place was a great find on our taco tour this weekend. The lengua was the worst out of the three, it was a little dry. The beef steak and the pollo asado were really good.

   Tip: The red salsa is insanely hot, I can eat hot and I was dying.

   If you are in the area this place is a must.

   Really hidden. Really divey. Really unassuming. Really Good. Really floor-to-ceiling-packed store. Really flavorful food. Really busy on a Sunday night. Really sad that I've lived here for so long and have never thought to order food from here.

   I ordered to-go a chicken quesadilla (fried folded-over shell like the Tortilla Factory's, but small), huitlacoche quesadilla (cannot find this filling in Astoria, have to go to Jackson Heights), and a cecina taco (salted beef- flavorful, pretty salty). $7.50 total. Everything was fresh and flavorful (maybe a little too salty for my taste), meat tender, tortillas soft. I walked through the back rooms because I wasn't sure where to place my order (at the store counter). There's a larger room with a television, the place probably has 6-8 tables. A woman was eating a giant bowl of red-colored soup with her family- it looked amazing. As I was waiting, 3 more families walked in and sat down, a young guy was taking orders. The delivery guy was hopping back onto his bike as I left. It's funny how you hear the sizzle of food & women talking behind the mysterious door, but there's not a trace of a restaurant establishment. The lone menu was slightly ripped. I want to try the gorditas (looked like pan-fried stuffed corn cakes), horchata, & hibiscus tea next time. Oh! and tamales.

   Went back the other night and got a carnita taco. The sliced pieces of meat were soft and tender. Not very salty or flavorful, but satisfying & cooked well, after a salt-laden Thanksgiving week. Highly recommend.
