  1. This is why I love Mexican food!

This is a good sized restaurant with lovely drawings on the walls. It brings that authentic feel you want when you eat in any restaurant.  Wooden tables and chairs adorn the restaurant to continue that authenticity.

Upon sitting down, the waitress brought over complimentary chips and salsa. You can immediately tell the salsa is not from a jar – it is definitely made in house. It has a hint of spice but overall its a simple, yummy salsa.

I kept it simple and ordered 3 tacos (range from $2.50-3.75/each). I ordered the shredded chipotle chicken, al pastor, & shrimp. Each tacos individual ingredients were properly highlighted in its own amazing way. The fresh pineapples in the al pastor popped in my mouth. The caramelized onions in the shrimp taco are perfect. The chipotle had a kick but not overwhelming. You can add cheese, sour cream, lettuce and tomato for an additional .75. I added it to each and it was well worth it. It also comes with slices of lime and radishes.

The table comes with two spicy salsas – Hello Delicious! The green salsa is an avocado puree and the red salsa is a smoked chipotle mix. Both are spicy in their unique way. It added the perfect amount of heat to my tacos – I should have asked for some to take home because it was that good!

The waitress was polite and provided great details about each taco when asked.

My meal with tax and tip was $13. Not too shabby for lunch.

My pointers: order tacos and add the amazing homemade hot salsas to enhance your dish!

    Happy dining!

  2. Gotta say that I'm confused about this place having such a high rating. Perhaps a lot of points are given for the ambience (clean and pretty) and the service (extremely attentive).

The food, however, was not four-star worthy. My companion and I ordered nachos with beef and chicken mole to split. The flavor was bland at best, and unpalatable at worst.

Again, just baffled by the ratings based on the food.

  3. Every time I come here these Mexican women are friendly . They take their time to do things properly. The food is amazing , the home made juices are sweet but delicious and the space is beautiful . A gem in the Bronx chaos!!

  4. So glad i found this place near the clinic where I work. If you want some delicious mexican food, stop by here!

I usually like to judge mexican joints based on their tacos, so i got the lengua and al pastor. Both were seasoned/flavored very well. The lengua i wish was a little more cooked/crispy. it was a bit soft. The al pastor was great and nice juicy bits of meat.

Also got the horchata. Not the best i've had… i wish it waas a bit more cinammon-y and less sugary, but still really good.

one thing i was disappointed with was the sudden price increase. the price for a taco isn't bad, but then they asked if i wanted it with everything (lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc) which is standard for tacos! but then that added about 75 cents per taco =(

Overall, great food and if I'm in the mood for mexican and nearby, i'll be back!!

  5. There is nothing like amazing Mexican food like California.. It wouldn't be fair to deduct a star for this though. I loved the food here but the chimichanga de camarón  could've used more lovin…
My friend, her daughter and I was visiting Lehman college… And we got hungry. Searched for restaurants on yelp and found this place! Thanks, Yelp! This restaurant is so cute and the waitress was so sweet! My friend and her daughter never had Mexican food so I ordered horchatas for the adults, mango smoothie for the little girl, al pastor tacos, chicken tacos, chimichanga de camarón, and nacho supreme so they could try it out.  They loved it but like I said before… Chimichangas needed more love!
Nacho supreme was pretty good. It had chicken, beef and shrimp with guacamole and CHEESE! I wouldn't order it again though because the al pastor tacos were amazing! It hit the spot!
I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the Bronx to try the other entrees here!

  6. This place has some good authentic Mexican food. Yeah you heard me, authentic!! A lot of places out there claim to be authentic but serve mediocre Mexican American food. Not picante picante, they put out good shit! No I'm not getting paid for this review and no I'm not related, I'm Puerto Rican.

The restaurant is very clean. I was looking all over for a rat because let's face it, the Bronx is nasty lol. The service was a bit slow but the staff are friendly.

I ordered the goat tacos as an appetizer. The goat was very tender, thumbs up. But I was a bit disappointed because it lacked flavor. Even after squeezing lemon on it, I really didn't get any flavor.

I can't remember the name of the entree that I ordered. All I remember is that it was a volcano on a plate. Very nice plating too, I must say. It contained chicken, steak, shrimp, chorizo, cheese, cactus, and magma. So so good.

  7. Waitstaff is always polite.  Food is pretty good for Upper end Mexican.  Drinks are always awesome.
