I am fan of Patron over all but it had some draw backs to go with the positives. I will start with the good. Happy hour is excellent I mean you can't beat a $5 house Margarita and especially when they taste as good as they do at Patron. The food here is great as well at a decent price for NYC standards. It will be at a slightly higher price than street tacos but in my opinion they taste better here and you get sides of Spanish rice and beans. I have tried the fajitas before and they are great as well. I dontt think I have had any bad food here.
Now unfortunately I have to go on to the bad. I am not sure maybe it's because they are understaffed but the service is always slow. They are still very nice but if you expect to get out fast you are sadly mistaken. If they had faster service I would easily give them 5 stars.
I'm almost afraid to say this, as I never want to jinx magic, but……….
…this establishment may be home to my favorite guacamole in all of NYC.
Phew. Glad we got that out of the way. There's also something charming about drinking about 4 margaritas straight out of your souvenir Patrón bottle.
Dim lighting & loud music, but what do you care? You've just had 4 margaritas.
In short: You don't have to be classy here. In fact, please don't; you'll make the rest of us look like slobs.
Happy hour is Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 8 (and I believe all day Sunday through Wednesday).
I came in right before happy hour was over while waiting for my boyfriend. They still seated me and let me order the happy hour drinks, which was awesome.
However, the drinks aren't very good. We had the margarita and the Long Island iced tea fish bowl. I've had Long Islands before but they've never tasted as sugary is this one.
I can't really speak for food since I didn't eat but from the one bite of enchilada I stole from my boyfriend, I did not enjoy it.
I probably won't be back. There are tons of other happy hour places in the area and I'm sure there are better places for Mexican.
Good place to go for some drinks, but not food. The food is generic Mexican food you would find at a place like Blockheads. The best time to go is during their happy hour (Sun to Wed, all day or Thu to Sat, 12pm to 8pm) when they have $5 margaritas. The drinks were strong and there is a good selection.
I was there in the afternoon, killing time. They have an inviting entry and a big variety of music. The bartenders were doubling as servers, they were very nice. When I was there, all the customers were youngish women and everyone looked happy. The food looked very good, I sat at the bar and had a moderately cold Dos Equis Lager. The place was clean and I would have eaten there, had I not already had lunch!
Went after work with some coworkers and I have a mixed review. I enjoyed my margaritas very much. The queso fundido was absolutely deelish and I love how they serve it in the cast iron little pan. The avocado fries weren't that impressive but the chipotle dip was awesome. What I didn't like and didn't impress me at all was the service. Atrocious.
Updated review: it really depends on the day and waiter/waitress in question but, DEF love me some Patron margaritas!!!
If I could give zero stars to this place I actually would. They charged us for food and drink we didn't even order. While the owner was there he didn't even attempt to make the situation right. I used to come here every time I was in New York for work and mistakingly went back. It was a major disappointment how the owner and bartender acted. I wouldn't suggest coming here if you don't want them to take advantage of you.
So I came here with my fiancé cause we were in the mood for Mexican. The place is small but we went for a early dinner on a Tuesday night so there was plenty of room. It was happy hour so we got $5 margaritas which were great. They weren't too strong or too weak. For dinner, we ordered enchiladas. I really wasn't crazy about it. I'm very use to having a lot of cheese on my enchilada and here, they barely put on any. We also ordered guacamole and chips which we both really liked. The guacamole had chunks of tomato in it which I never had before but I surprisingly liked it a lot. We then decided to order one of their candy drinks. I ordered the drunken gummies which was great. 22oz is a lot so I recommend you probably sharing this drink or getting it as your first cause my fiancé and I couldn't finish it at all. Drinks are great! Food is okay.
