  1. This review is for their delivery. I ordered two tonkotsu ramen, a ramen burger, and takoyaki. The ramen soup came separate from the noodle and pork jowl which was good so that the noodle won't get soggy. However, one of the lids for the soup split right open and spilled all over the bag. That was half the soup gone. The noodle was okay but was stuck together. The pork jowl was tasty and had a good distribution of fat. It seems like it was not cut against the grain, so it was a bit difficult to bite off. The ramen burger was rather hard to eat. Even though we ordered "rare", the meat came medium well to well done. The takoyaki was tasty and pretty on par with other good takoyaki places in the city.

Considering the downtown Brooklyn area, this is a solid ramen place.

  2. Fairly good ramen in this tiny, packed Brooklyn Heights hole in the wall.  Service was a tad pushy and cold.  The server asked what appetizer we wanted but the selection wasn't that great so we opted to skip appetizers.  We were asked a second time and when we said no thank you, we were given a rude glare.  Ordered the shoyu ramen and though the chicken in it was delicious, the broth was a tad too salty and the noodles a bit too chewy.  The tonkatsu ramen had a better flavor.  Portions are a tad on the smaller side.  It's still better than most ramen in the area but certainly not the best.  Service, though fast, needs some courtesy work.

  3. Given the lack of ramen stores around me in BK, this place offers a decent option to satisfy my ramen cravings. We came here for lunch on a Saturday, it was quite empty, but there were constant takeout orders.

We tried their pork buns, pork inside was very tender and juice, but I think it needed more sauce or more seasoning, because the flavor was a little bland. For their ramen, the broth was not mind-blowingly amazing, but it wasn't bad at all. I like "al dente" for all types of noodles, and here the noodle was cooked perfectly. I left feeling very satisfied.

I will come back here if I need a quick fix for my ramen cravings.

  4. Solid ramen joint just across the Brooklyn Bridge. I was feeling adventurous and tried the Parco Ramen, which as it turns out had a very interesting curry broth. I enjoyed the bowl-it was very large and definitely filled me up for dinner. I thought that the broth was a tad bit salty but was very flavorful. The noodles were good quality and I thought that the ratio of other toppings was decent as well.

With so many ramen options in Manhattan, I'm not sure if I would venture back here specifically for this place, but I definitely think it's worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a casual bite!

  5. It was our first trip to Brooklyn Heights and we were hungry for lunch!  We wandered around looking for somewhere to eat and randomly decided on Kogane Ramen.  A quick check of the online reviews made us feel like it would be a decent choice.

It was a cold, rainy day in May and we were looking to get something in us to warm up.  This hit the spot.  We were treated nicely by the 2 girls out on the floor.  The apps hit the spot, we had the grilled peppers, edamame, and the pork gyoza.  We had the Yaki, spicy vegetable, Tonkotsu, and Shoyu ramen.  All 4 of us enjoyed our meals.

I'm a simple white guy, originally from the Midwest, I'm not going to claim to be the #1 authority on authentic Asian food.  In fact, I'm not even a big Asian food fan, BUT I love me some ramen (not the packs you ate in college, which taste like pure salt) and this was good ramen.  To me.  At least I've actually been to Japan (and China!) and eaten authentic ramen.  I suppose I've got that going for me.

The portions were good, the service was decent, and the place was nice.  After walking for hours visiting the sites, I wish my chair would've had a back.  That's my gripe.  My back was sore from the miles of walking we'd done already and I was looking to relax while I ate.  The seats were hard and backless.  Is that a big problem?  No.

  6. I was not impressed.
This is a small hole in the wall restaurant with blah ramen. We waited a little before we were seated. Because its so small, there was barely any room to wait inside so we stood outside instead.
We started off with the pork buns. They were decent with good flavor. I was hoping the pork would be super tender but it was ok.
I had the spicy miso Ramen. It wasn't bad,  but it wasn't that great either.  The noodles were al dente, which is good. The rest of it is barely memorable, the soup was OK,  the toppings were OK.
    Blah.

  7. Stopped in for a nice night with ramen. Many options for ramen, both pork options where delicious, and a very good price point. Kirin bottle is only $5. Also had the ramen burger, pretty good.. beware the ramen bun is greasey as per usual with the dish.

  8. Kogane turned out to be better than I'd expected. From the outside this spot is very unassuming. And the interior is quite humble as well.

But the ramen packs a punch. We ordered the spicy ground pork ramen and the tonkatsu ramen, as well as the vegetable gyoza. It was all very tasty, especially the spicy pork ramen. And for under 15 dollars a person, it's a great bang for your buck.

    Will be back!
