This place isn't fancy, but breakfast clocks in right about $5. You can't beat it, and the food is made to order & tastes great. It's a solid pick when you're in the neighborhood.
I will give it three stars because of the omelet.
Environment: When you first come to the grill you get the feeling that it needs to be remodeled. The outdated chairs and the wooden tables appearing worn out made me feel uncomfortable. Also, I should of took the hint that any establishment that does not have a constant flow of traffic because Baruch College is a block away should be avoided.
Service: Normal. She said "Good Morning."
Food: Ham Omelet and Home Fries. The omelet was pretty good. Ham, peppers and onions. Its a talent if you can ruin eggs. Now, let's talk about the Home Fries. (Stares nonchalantly at the phone) Brah, really? There is nothing more disgusting when you taste home fries that is overly mushy and constantly overheated. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a batch for the week and microwave it. I threw the home fries in the garbage so fast you could of swore it expired yesterday.
Price: $3.75
Will I Go There Again?: Emergency food. If I don't want to waste $11.00 at Baruch for a sandwich, I just might come here again. Desperation changes decisions.
Tried this place via a MealPass order of Chicken Cutlet & Fries. They had it ready to go when I arrived and it was true to its description. The bread is soft and nice and the I had no issues whatsoever with the quality. Great option for a decent quality lunch if you're looking for a sub and its related counterparts. Filling tasty food, yum!
Just have to love happening upon a cheap lunch by chance while walking around the city. I had actually been handed a menu by one of those guys on a street corner for another place and was headed there when I saw Gramercy Grill. Sign outside had a $6.50 lunch special for a charcoal grilled chicken sandwich, french fries, and a soda. Decided to give it a shot.
Glad I did! The place itself is like a standard deli setup with a few tables and chairs. Nothing really pretty about the place, and kind of bland, but it gets the job done. Menu is a mix of Mexican foods like burritos and hot plates, burgers, sandwiches, salads, breakfast, and combo meals. The one thing that really stood out –
Everything on their menu is below $10! Seriously, everything!
The chicken sandwich I ate had a nice charcoal grilled flavor to it, and with BBQ sauce on a thin bread / roll it was quite tasty to me, and filling. Good deal to get fries and a soda with it. Seems like they have a special each day.
At 2:30 the place was pretty busy with a mix of students, locals, and workers on lunch break there. Saw someone eating a huge burrito, and another a burger. Both looked good. Will have to try something different next time. Seems like I found another good cheap lunch spot!
