This is a Southern Italian restaurant that has been in the area since 1985.There is always a fresh display of antipasti as you enter the restaurant which opens into the sunken dining room. The restaurant has sort of a cozy but yet a romantic feel with its candles and white tablecloths. We have dined here often in the past 15 years and have enjoyed many dishes such as Branzino al Remo and the Pappardelle Quattro Gatti, They also have an extensive wine list from places such as Italy, California, Australia and Chile.
Really enjoyed this place the other night. Simply FANTASTIC pastas — the special pappardelle with spicy sausage and mushroom was perfect; I also tasted both of their gnocchi dishes (pesto and classic tomato) and they were great. And the starters! We had a special with arugula, prosciutto and canteloupe, a fresh mozzarella special, and the standard fried calamari. All were excellent. The only spot where they disappointed was dessert — they weren't too fresh and the flavor just wan't quite there. Good service. Nice atmosphere. If it weren't such a trek uptown I'd go often.
Good service and good size for a group of 6. They had a couple larger tables as well.
Cabernet and Chianti red wines were nice and smooth.
We tried antipasto, mussels and cheese appetizers. All were simple but tasty. Except the mussels which were pretty fishy so we sent them back.
Good desert variety and hit the spot! See pics.
