Estrella Poblanita
“Estrellitas is the best place if you're looking for Mexican food in little Italy.”
“They have about a dozen taco options, the best of which are al pastor (pork with pineapple) and tinga (chipotle chicken).”
“The menu is full of all kinds of other great stuff like moles and goat dishes, but I've always been happy ordering the quesadilla or burrito.”

Slammin'!
I am a fan of the other Estrella on White Plains Rd, so walking along Arthur Ave, I figured I couldn't go wrong.
The setup is different from the White Plains Rd. spot. It's actually smaller, but it's much more cozier. I ordered up some steak tacos and they were perfect. I could eat there everyday and never get tired.
The service is on point. The waitress came over at least 3xs to see if I was okay and to refill my Snapple. The prices are also on point with the portions served.
In an Italian neighborhood, Estrella sticks out, but trust me, its a good thing.
The existence of this restaurant is hard to prove. It has gone through a bit of a face lift in the last year, and for the better.
Legend has it that Estrellita used to be known as BYOB Mexican. But she has shaped up since then. Space is limited, a bit tight in fact, but the food is completely worth it. The guac is phenomenal; several people I've gone with have dubbed it "potentially the best" & other such enthusiastic testimonials.
There is a mixture of locals and students who find their way here, primarily the former. Estrella has her license now, so please refrain from coming in with Bud Lights in bag. Estrellita would much prefer you come in, sit down, and take your time enjoying any of the entensive options her menu offers. I myself am not a huge fan of chicken platters, so I go for the steak burrito. And I can never finish it, but maybe that's because of the gauc and those free chips we get… Breakfast stuff seems to be available throughout business hours, but I have yet to test the egg dishes that intrigue me so.
A nice, affordable alternative to the Italian cuisine in the area.
I happened to be in the Bronx and couldn't resist trying this cute Mexican restaurant…admittedly a little swayed by their Michelin mention. Other reviews have noted how clean they are and I they weren't exaggerating— I saw them clean the front door at least three times just during our meal.
The guacamole was delicious although the texture was a little odd. I had the chile rellenos and my boyfriend had one of their sandwiches. Both were great, though the portions were so large with rice and beans and tortillas and sides that we barely made it through half of everything.
If I lived here I'd be a regular, but not sure if I'll make another special trip.
