This place definitely deserves more love! I actually do not like Japanese Ramen; I think they are overpriced, overhyped, and I simply just don't crave them. My husband, on the other hand, is obsessed with Japanese ramen and he's always up for a new ramen joint. So, despite my unwillingness to avoid ramen as much as possible, he dragged me into Ramen Shack in Smorgasburg. We decided to go with their Tonkotsu Tantan Ramen, which came out pretty promptly after ordering. This stuff is amazing! I usually opt for Shoyu broth at regular ramen places, because Tonkotsu broth is just too heavy and rich for my taste. But their Tonkotsu broth was super flavorful, and the chili oil definitely lightened the heaviness of the broth. Probably one of the best Ramen I had in a long time. The price is pretty standard, with most of them ranging from $11 – $13. If you are visiting Smorgasburg, definitely give this place a try! You won't regret it!
This is inside the industry city and is part of the Smorgasburg. The Tonkotsu (creamy pork bone) tasted pretty good with its rich soup. The pork belly chashu was delicious. I just couldn't figure out how they got it to be round. The soft boil egg was a little under cooked since the egg white was a little liquidly, but it was still really flavorful and yummy. The Tonkotsu Tan Tan (spicy pork) tasted pretty good too. Overall, this is one of the best ramen I've had in Brooklyn. The shack seating actually gives you a good feel of how it is in Japan and you can actually see how they combine all the ingredients to make the finish dish.
