The cuisine here is delicious… but it's ridiculously overpriced. Yes, sushi is expensive, but there's a limit. I won't be coming here again, with the exception of occasional lunch delivery if the coworkers demand.
As I noted in my prior review, the place is adorable (exactly the same post-fire). You're better off headed to Edgewater for Japanese wares though with those prices.
There are plenty of competitors around with realistic price points!
Ambiance/Decor/Atmosphere: A cute little sushi house that also incorporates a store within. This place is strictly take out, but you can buy little trinkets, chop sticks, plants, and desert products as well.
Noise/sound level: Since it's take out only there is not much noise besides the chefs talking and the TV.
Menu: Super painfully large, it takes days to make a selection.
Service: Slightly rough, my wife's roll was messed up and they tried to force her to take it. Then it took a bit of time to make a new one, but they were swamped so that's slightly acceptable.
Food: Very delicious sushi.
Bar: None
Price: The sushi is overpriced and it can get expensive very quick. But the food is very tasty so it's not so bad.
Overall: In this area it's just about the best sushi you can get. Sadly, this place burnt to the ground leaving me looking for another sushi house. In some way, Maguro still delivers food so maybe I'll order take out that way.
It's been 2 years since I've been Yelping. I initially starting yelping for 2 main reasons:
1) to lambast 2 businesses that I felt no one should have to suffer
2) to become acquainted with various food spots in Elmwood Park, Garfield, Wallington, Saddle Brook, and Rochelle Park (as I work in what feels like the middle of the aforementioned towns)
So with my two years of experience grabbing lunch in this vicinity, I can safely say this is the best sushi you can find of those towns.
There are no chairs or tables, this is strictly a takeout and delivery place (though they only deliver in Rochelle Park and only Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM). I'd recommend ordering ahead, though they are very quick in preparing the sushi. There's a bunch of food items on display (such as edamame crisps and Japanese sodas) that you can browse while you wait.
Yummy bite sized morsels of of culinary artistry. This take out establishment looks like one of the ordinary fast food sushi conveyer joints, but in reality, they serve up fresh, flavorful, and filling sushi and sashimi. Yums!
I can't say enough good things about this place. Ugh, it's awesome. I have tried the following: spicy tuna roll, tempura roll, california roll, spider roll, spicy tuna crunch roll, Maguro deluxe roll, shumai, salad, edamame, and beef nagamaki … all wonderful choices. Everything is so fresh and tasty. Even their salad DRESSING is delish. I don't claim to be a sushi connoisseur, but I've had my share of very good (and very bad) sushi and Maguro definitely ranks near the top. It helps that the staff is super friendly, even stayed open a few minutes later when I mistakingly put in a last minute order. Make sure you put your order in about an hour before you want it as it gets really crazy around lunch time.
Very reasonably priced, reasonable sushi. Nothing super fabulous, don't expect it to be comparable to the NYC sushi spots, but for the area, it'll do. Pick up only.
